Not a bad idea. I'm actually going to check them out tonight and see if they're really that hard to see I could post up some pictures if you guys want to see

It's no wonder they're illegal.
i used rust-oleum spray tint, and they specifically say on the back of the can not to put more than 3 coats bc it may make then too dark. during the day tinted lights are less visible but at nite they illuminate just fine.

i dont like plastidip on them bc it was not made for that and doesnt allow proper illumination - it is not transparent like the spray tint.

you can take off rustoleum spray tint off too...no pblm...

Sorry, but I really don't get this at all. Modern vehicles have safety systems for a reason. Why the heck would you want to black out side markers, tail lights, headlights, etc.. just for looks? Really stupid in my opinion. Why not get rid of your seatbelts because you don't like how they look with your interior?

Good luck explaining to the Judge that you didn't mean to cause the accident and kill someone, but your Corvette looked soooo much cooler with blacked out lights.

If done properly there is no problem. Mine meet all the requirements of the law. Then the State of Texas changed the law. Any change to an OEM light is a fail and should not pass TX inspection. Been 2 years and I have had no problems passing inspection.

Here is my car with a camera flash

Can you tell they are tinted?

Your other car is a Buick isn't it?

Just exactly what kind of accident does a side marker light prevent? My tail lights are still very visible. If you don't see me stopping in front of you I'd say you need to shave the hair around your ******* so you can see out better or you need to quit drinking.

Exactly the attitude that I would expect from someone who thinks this is a responsible way to share the road. Sorry, but it's not all about you and your midlife crisis. Tuck in your gold chains, take off the aviators and act like an adult.

FYI, I've never worn a gold chain, even when they were popular. I have never owned aviators. As a retired cop I bet I've investigated hundreds more accidents than you and have never investigated one where blacked out tail lights were the cause.

I'll bet you drive your Buick at the speed limit in the left lane too don't you?

I think I'll keep my seat belts and you can keep your sarcasm. Much more dangerous things can be done than darkened side markers so get your panties out of a bunch.

You really want bright get the LED's and paint them. I'm sure they would shine through the darkest paint. If I look straight into these they will hurt my eyes. You can see how the other side is lighting up the wall.

Default Tint

Just did mine yesterday. Used the tint spray and clear coat. Very happy, hated the orange on the red car.

BOOM! here ya go... tinted and you can still see the markers.

I have also tested removing the tint.... easily removed with lacquer thinner. No residue afterwords and no fading or anything weird. A bit of elbow grease if you want to remove the tint thought :/

Plasti-dip is the brand name... you can get it pretty much anywhere.... it will be a solid color though... there will be no tint effect... it will completely black out your lights.... unless you only mist your parts... but then your left with a garbage finish....

Plasti-dip is good for somethings... lights... it is not.

Awesome! Luv the blacked out look.

I did my wheels a year ago and they are still holding up. Going to powder coat them next.

Dupli-Color also makes a similar product (cost is a little more).
Comes in black/red/blue/white/graphite/gray.
