Battery Outrage
So I stopped by my local dealer this weekend to see about getting a replacement AC Delco battery as mine is has been in the car since new (2006) and was dead after not driving it for about a week.. I about fell over when they told me it would cost $200 to replace. Wow.. Didn't realize they were so much. Maybe I need to go with an optima instead? Any recommendations or should I pay the $$ for the AC Delco?

I had to get one for my Mazda truck a month or so ago. When I bought the battery a little over 3 years ago, it was $39 at Wal Mart. The replacement, an identical 3-year battery, was almost $100. For some reason they're gone up a lot in the past couple of years.

AC delco looks good when trying to keep your car all stock. The GM dealer is not the only one who sells the delco battery. We have ac delco supply houses and electrical shops that sell delco batteries. I bought my 7 year Delco battery from the dealer. I think it was close to $140. Check the warranty before you decide. Cheap batteries tend to "gas" and corrode.

I replaced the original battery in my ’06 last year – only because it was so old, it never failed me. Sale at Advance Auto; $90 for an AutoCraft Gold, 7 year warranty with 3 year full replace.

+1 for Optima Red Top
I got 10 years out of my first Optima, and that's with multiple kills over numerous Winters (no battery tender). O'Reilly and AutoZone wanted aorund $220 I think, but O'Reilly priced matched Amazon at $160 for me a few months ago.
