We can thank the EPA and all the regulations the WH pushed for battery cost increases. Lead is not mined in the US anymore.

Top Tip: usually places like Advanced Auto will email you coupons every Friday and if you buy on-line and pick up in the store. I have gotten discounts up to 40% off. Of course the odds are that they won't give you a coupon that large when you need it most. But last time mine died I lucked out and got it. Don't know why they offer so much off as it takes them just as long as if you pay in the store. They will also install it for free.

2/ Grab the battery and shake it after install - it's difficult

Price jump possibly due to EPA regs?

What is the part number on the Optima for the C6. I went to their website and did not find a listing for Corvette.

Put a Costco battery in my 06 about a year ago for $66. 100 month warranty, first 3 yrs free. Hard to beat. If you insist on a Delco you don't have to go to the dealer. Many independent suppliers handle Delco. I priced out one for $105 when I was shopping for my replacement. Google for Delco suppliers in your area.

Exactly what I was thinking. Probably included 1/2 labor.

I switched to AutoCraft Gold from Advanced Auto. Order online for in store pickup, they always have discounts when ordering online, and take your old battery to the store for core return at the same time.

The dealer charged me $5 to replace two wiper blades. Takes about 30 seconds. So the battery installation charge doesn't surprise me. Everywhere else in the world, battery installation and wiper blade installation is free.

I get Everstarts from Wal-Mart. Reliable and relatively inexpensive. I change my own batteries, it's a 5 minute job.

Get an Interstate battery. They are better than Delco, Optima, or any others.
