Default Door lock trim removal

I need some help finding a guide to remove the door lock trim. Everyone has guides to get the door off and the speaker. However, I can't find a single guide on how to remove the door lock trim pieces themselves. They this medal "somethings" on them and I am not sure how to get them off.

Are you talking about these? If so there are two screws to remove and replace the screws with out the trim.

Talking about these. I need to get it off for what I want to do instead of just putting a cover on top.

Thanks. That page is amazing. Answers plenty of other questions I had!

That being said, I could just be blind, but I don't see the guide to remove that one piece. To be clear, it is the trim piece that is silver in that picture.

I could easily break it off and tape it back on. The issue are the three plastic "studs" are held in place with metal ring of some sort. I'll get a picture next time I open up the door. Already broke 2 off but the door hand happens to hold it in place anyway.

This may turn into another tutorial I need to make.

I replaced my door lock bezels with faux carbon fiber units that matched the pattern on my stock '08 center console trim plate. I found that they were held to the door panels with push on retainers over the plastic mounting studs or stakes. It is difficult to remove these retainers without bending or misshaping them in the process. I used needle nose pliers and was able to get all but two of them off without ruining them. They are designed to be used once and then discarded. I was able to find replacements in the hardware department at Lowes. I wanted to use nylon nuts, but those mounting studs are not threaded, they are smooth and tapered. You might try using a little glue when you put the retainers back on, or just replace them with new ones. Hope this helps.

I used a metric nut....actually 3 of them superglued together so I could slowly twist them off. They are like inverted speed nuts. One broke so I used a small washer and screw to hold the lock plate down. drilled a small pilot hole in broken plastic stud and carefully screwed into it.
