Default Nav Syatem 2006

New here. Just bought my first vet, real nice o6 with nav system. I have a very simple question. Can't seem to find the answer anywhere. The system has two disks. The manual says to load the one disk into the system. After I put the disk into the unit and it loads, do I take the disk out or leave it in? What is the second disk for? Thanks, JDA

Leave it in. One disk is for east coat and one is for west coast.

You probably have version 2 discs, so therefore you have an East DVD, and a West DVD.
Depending upon where you live or where your travelling to, you insert and leave the DVD in the slot. It will not work without leaving the DVD in the Nav system.
East covers Canada, ME, NY, MA, NJ, GA, FL, NC, SC, VA, DC, OH, VT, NH, RI or the Eastern Seaboard.
West DVD covers the remaining states and Canada as well.
I have the 2013 DVD version 9, which now has only 1 DVD for all states and Canada.
PM me for more info

I think I have an old version and a miss matched set. One disk says V. 4.0 United States/Canada. The other says V. 2.0 and is labeled United States/Canada. I plan on updating the disks, just trying to understand they system! Do I load both disks? Thanks

Nothing gets copied off the disk into the nav. Its read only. So when you put a disc in nothing is being programmed or copied. It just reads the maps on the disc. Either version will work. Newer versions have more points of interest and updated roads.

Where is the best place, cheapest, to order the Nav disk. Is the V. 9.0 the latest, or has GM put out a newer version? JDA

I got a version a couple behind the most recent on ebay for $80. Newest version is +/- $200 from gm.

LOL, sounds to me like you have your setting for size set too high..set it at 1/4 mile to see all the streets and roads
