I bought the 05 with 23K on Monday. I figure no one ever changed the fluids in nine years except for oil. So I took the car to Chevy and told them to go bumper to bumper and tell me anything it needs or any leaks. Of course all the fluids needed changing, Brakes Power steering, Clutch, rear differential (for grinding noise) Cooling flush..etc There was about $800.

The tech calls me into the service area and said the mechanic (who has 5 Vettes himself) tells me the oil pan gasket is weeping since the car has not been driven. He only pointed this out because I said EVERYTHING it may need. I don't like any leaks so I tell him to replace it...BAMM another $800 LOL. Big job. But I want the next owner to know I did everything to the car and I only paid $29650 for it which is NADA good trade KBB is around $30300. SO I had some wiggle room to make it "new" Sometimes people don;t drive these cars enough and they start leaking although he said the valve covers were good.

SO its worth $1600 to make everything fresh and baselined. I probably could have just had them clean the seepage and call it a day but i don't like that and I told them to check everything with an open checkbook and thats all they found so I now hope I don't have to go back for any screwups.

Since the tech is a Vette guy and making a good days pay I think he will do fine.......fingers crossed. They gave me a rental (for that kind of money I expected that much)

otherwise the tech said the car is perfect and in great shape. Even if I had this check done before I bought it I would have bought the car and done the work. Very nice vert with all the 05 3LT (1SB) bells and whistles except Mag suspension which I did not want to deal with.

Sat in a new Vette while i was there. The lookover the hod is exactly the same Interior is nice I really miss my BT and MP3 hook ups. and the NAV is connected with the HUD so I can't really replace it with a and fully featured after market Kenwood or Pioneer,

But I can live with that for the next year or so I keep the car. Maybe longer if I don't get tired of it or aches and pains getting in and out..
He also told me it has a $1500 exhaust system on it. Corsa? FAlken tires (Never heard of them) but they were not cheap.

Nice car TBong.......you did right by doing a complete service.

I would ditch (sell) those ugly Z knock-off wheels for a set of base '13 oem's.

You did the right thing. A properly maintained vehicle is less likely to leave you stranded in the future.

I agree Tbong.Although you could have saved some coin changing the fluids etc yourself ,only you know what your limitations are and you based that on your decision to have the maintanence performed by an expert.Im sure you will sleep well with your decision.Peace,Will

LOL I did not know they were not stock. I am not spending money on wheels. They do the job. I am not entering shows plus I may sell the car next Spring and don't want to put a whole lot into it aesthetically. It is a bucket list thing. I don't know that i will become a Corvette fanatic. I am way more into riding my bike. But I sure do like the car. Until/Unless I get another daily driver like a Tacoma or truck I will likely not want this as my everyday vehicle. More of a weekender. Thankfully I don't have a commute and I can ride a bike year round.

Yeah I have the original buyers order. Z51, 1SB, Nav (which is really bad LOL) Still using the 2005 maps. Guy paid $63600 in 05. I did not even know these cars were that expensive then.

No Myrtle Beach Chevy. I was told they had a really good Vette Specialist there and they did. The guy was good and he has 4 Vettes himself. HOWEVER I do not like the Management or the woman service greeter so I will likely try Judd Kuhn for anything further. Had the TPMS sensors re installed today for $65 each at a tire shop. Chevy wanted $400 just for the parts!!!!

Sure do wish we had a Vette only Service center. There is one 90 miles away. When I see those i know those guys really care about Corvettes, and it is all they work on.

Thanks....I do too. I am not going to drop $2000 on wheels just because LOL. I would however, replace the tires with run flats but they still have the nubs so I likely won't wear them out. But I carry a patch kit and a 12V compressor and CO2 cartridges.

LOL I could always plastic-coat them black for a change of pace..
