I haven't used one of them in 10 years. I probably would put it on the part that protects the radiator (aka "fangs") and make sure it is placed behind the plastic air dam.

I'd put it under the rear of the car some where. Much easier to access. I would secure it with duct tape too.

They will fall off with just the magnet used. I lost one on an older car a few years ago. Wherever you put it secure it with something else. My solution to locked out is OnStar.

I had an all metal blank cut without the plastic that is on the original key so it lays flat in the wallet.

I had a couple blanks cut at Home Depot. One in the wallet and one in the toolbox in the garage.

All my pants have belt loops. My "fob" is on one of those D clamps with a stretch of nylon ribbon and then a ring. At the end of the ring, I attached the "fob" which then extends into my left (or right) pocket. Goes in the car with me, and out. And, no key on belt loop, no start car first time. Or any time.

Home depot for a space metal key, then a roll of black electrical tape to find a wiring harness under the car that I can tape the back up key to, that even a tech working under the car will not spot it.

All you have to remember is you or the wife uses it, remember to tape it back up so it there when you need to get it again.

Also, Help to stash a back up Fob with the battery removed and taped to the side of it under the carpet somewhere as well, since chances are when you loose the Fob, its not going to be in the car. and yes, you need to take the battier out, or the car will see the spare fob when you leave the car.

I assume he would just put it in the slot in the glove box. I was under the impression a battery isn't needed if you do that (is that incorrect?).

There's some accessible steel in the rear frame if you look up under there.

It is most likely correct, while most slots will see a fob without a battery, some will not...best to check yours and make sure. Mine works even if I only put the one half of the fob in the slot and leave the half that holds the battery out of the car.

lowes...duct seal...in the plumbng or electrical department. it's a sticky clay like substance that sticks to anything. and wrap the spare key in aluminum foil.

After the spare if programmed to the car, Open the fob, leave the two pieces and a brand new battery still in wrapper in a small plastic bag, and find a place under the carpet somewhere to stash it.

Without the battery in the FOB, the car never sees it, and if you need to dig it out after you gotten back in the car with the tapped spare key, it take about a min to pop the new battery in, close it up, and your on your way.

No doubt I'm missing something here.

If I leave my FOB in the car and close the door my horn will honk 3 times letting me know I left the FOB in the car. Then I open the door and get it.

Thanks for the reminder to get a blank spare key made! I like the wallet idea the best!
