Base coupe appearance vs Grand Sport?
Does anyone think the base model looks better than a Grand Sport. Will be moving to a 08,09 soon. Went to a corvette show today to compare the appearance of the base coupe vs the Grand Sport. The coupes, side look seems to flow better. The GS has a lot going on. The gills, badges, the wheel wells popping out. Just a busy look.

Personal thing. I had two base cars, an 05 and 07. As soon as the GS came out I knew I wanted one. Finally bought a brand new 2012. Couldn't be happier.

I bought what I liked best and could give a flip what anyone else thinks. I think the base model looks cleaner. The GS as you said, and I agree looks too busy, all the add-ons look like afterthoughts to me.
That's my opinion. There will be a bunch that love the GS and rightly so because that's what they like.

It depends on what YOU like. IMHO, it's not even close. The GS wins by a landslide, no disrespect intended to my "base" brothers. The base models are a bit subdued in appearance, the GS is a more exotic look.

I had an '09 base convertible and I always disliked the look of the small rear brake disc. Sounds silly but it annoyed me. I bought a 2012 GS and now I am no longer bothered by the look.

Every time I looked at my base I wish I had a widebody car. A couple of years later I got the z06 which obviously has a lot of other bonuses too, but in all honestly the thing i wanted was the look and I got it

exactly.
anyways, personal preferences, maybe, but I like the base more, much cleaner, sleeker look, besides, the same engine plus more weight and drag, if all other is equal (year, milage, etc) I would never want a gs over a base.
the only straight upgrade for a base is z06/zr1 (coupe) or better 427 (vert).

I like the look of the wide bodies. I own a base that I modified because the look was too, mmm, base. I am really happy with the changes I made even though I did not go with a wide body kit. If I had not modded the look of my base, I would be moving to a C7 or 427 sooner than planned at this point.

I had an 08 coupe, traded for a 13 GS coupe.
As others have stated - personal taste. For me, i always like the body of the GS over the base coupe. From the front bumper to the wide body, car just seems more "aggressive" visually to me.

imo the real treat is what some have done, put a ls7 in a base , real sleeper look with the muscle to back it up if desired, the gs w the same ls3 motor and the "wannabe" look, not my taste.
but then again, any vette (even if its a c4 or c7 ) is sweeter than none.
and thank you for keeping an eye on the real world.

The term "wide body" has started to get on my nerves lately. I think I'll start calling the "wide body" cars "base with love handles." If a traffic lane was 3" wider, would you proclaim how wide it seemed? Most likely no one would notice. If an elevator was 3" wider, would it then be "roomy?" 3" is nothing. Can we please agree that you like the brake ducts and "ram-air" look of the front bumper and be done with it? I like them too, from a looks standpoint alone. However, if you put a Z06 next to a GS next to a base, 98% of non-Corvette people wouldn't even notice the "wideness." They'd see the air scoops and that's it. I think a lot of people get their kicks hoping people will think they're driving a Z06 or ZR-1.
