I got a nod from a C4 guy the other day.
***** will be ***** though. Most owners are ok though, in my estimation the ***** are less then 10%

I live out in the sticks; well technically it is called the prairie here is southern IL. Heck, most people that pass you coming down a country road will wave regardless of what they are driving, an F-250, Farm tractor or motorcycle. If I encounter a vette in my sparely populated county I almost always get a wave back...its because we probably know each other. There aren't many vettes around here and I know most of them.

I often wonder if people who refuse to wave back at me in my Corvette are the same people who won't return my friendly "Hi!" or even nod when we walk past each other on the sidewalk, and there are few other people around.
Maybe they are holding that same lame excuse, "Just because were on the same street doesn't mean anything."
Yet these people often characterize themselves as "friendly."

:will y:I don't have many people not wave if eye contact is made. Most that don't wave never saw me to begin with. I try to wave every time but sometimes are distracted with driving and don't see them in time to wave. Must be other times that someone waved at me but I didn't even spot them.

90% of the time I get a wave be it in my C4, C5 or the C6, out of the other 10%, 5% are young kids that I dont think really know what its about until someone tells them, or they dont care, and I think the other 5% very well could be in deep thought, sometimes I'll wave first sometimes not. One day this guy in C2 waved going in the opposite direction on a six lane highway, stuck his hand all the way out to make sure I saw him
A month ago I had a kid(18-20) in a C7 waiting at a light as I was passing him (we could have shooken hands) I waved, no wave back, kinda was bent, but then 2 weeks ago saw the same C7 same kid but this time in the passenger seat and mom was driving, she waved. Probably was scared stiff that if he scratched the car he'd be dead

I agree.. some people are enthusiasts and some look at as a nice car they're driving... I keep waving and sometimes I get a reply and sometimes not... it is what it is and I don't lose sleep over it......

When it comes to the wave...it's a tradition. Keep it going. Its part of being in the Corvette family. (Just like coming to the aid of another vette on the side of the road).
If you don't wave back (intentionally or not) its OK. It happens to the best of us...
Got to be honest, I've been driving the vette and for what ever reason (radio, preoccupied mind, talking to the wife etc...) I didn't see the other vette in time to wave. Not intentional, it happens. Didn't lose toooo much sleep(lol).
With that said...We go to many corvette events around the country. We have had the pleasure to meet many wonderful people. These people become good friends, Our Corvette family. So for us it's easy to be friendly and wave.
To sum it up, The Wave, a small gesture of friendliness. A simple acknowledgement of appreciation that you too are a Corvette owner. An understanding that you have a friend out there with you. Maybe a little "corny" but I have over 4 decades contributing to "saving the wave".

And Saturday on a 20 mile interstate hwy run I got a thumbs up and a horn toot from a trucker when I got off the exit and several "look Daddy" by kids in other cars and a couple of wistful looks form soccer moms while I was in my old antiquated c6...
I swear boys and girls still in car seats know what a Vette is when they see it...even if they don't know what to call it. You can see it in their eyes and expressions.
