If anyone else ever needs replacements, the parts are readily available; and, easily replaceable by the average handyman in an hour..... if a guy can wrench a Corvette they should be able to replace these without too much effort - - - the most important part is making sure you "block the door up securely" while doing the replacement; and of course, holding the leverage bar tightly while loading the tension onto the spring so it does not kick back and take out your teeth.....

Sad to say, but it's my view that this company hosed you big time. They doubled up on the parts cost, and about tripled the labor rate. I still be considering readdressing the matter with the owner; or, the BBB - - - most reputable businesses don't want any bad word of mouth reports. (jmo)

Yes. There are 2 of them bolted together in the center.
I did ask how much. He said the springs were 100 ea. So I assumed 200 plus the service call. He tried to charge me for the springs, service call of 75, and 198 for labor, plus tax. Ended up paying 400 total.
Still a rip off, but most places do not sell those types of springs anymore to people not in the trade. Liability is too great, people get hurt if they don't know how to remove/install them.

Almost done!! Gates, Belgium Block and driveway went in this past week:
Today garage door gets installed, siding gets finished. Wednesday brings gutter installation and walkthrough. Final inspections on Friday. The garage floor has to cure until month end, then gets diamond polished. Then I get to class up the joint!

Well another foulup to add to the book - garage door was supposed to be installed today and - it wasn't!! ******* - at least the siding is done in time for tonight's Nor'easter. They clam the door is going in tomorrow regardless of weather...Color me skeptical...

I am excited at the prospect of stepping out of bed and not tripping over the flooring guy, taking a dump and throwing out the plumber, not worrying that they hit the gas main for a second time, not having to deal with people who wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in their ****. Yes my stay in purgatory is coming to an end. And I am excited to be writing one final check for these mostly incompetent, lazy, tardy, shameless baboons.

Sounds like Nancy Pelosi drew up your plans, Harry Reid hired the workers, and Jonathan Gruber, provided the instructions.
Sorry, I just couldn't pass that up.
We're all rootin' for ya big guy!

Things are getting there, slowly but surely. The inspector is on-site daily, which seems to get the project put on hold more often than not.

It darn sure is today ! ! ! Yesterday it was 48 degrees and sunny. Today it 28 degrees and 6" of snow from a Nor-easter and more coming they say..... Sure glad I took a few minutes yesterday to get my blower on the old JD. It can be frustrating at times having a 6 year old project manager. But every time I hear her say: "Grampie, let's just do this..." Things become much simpler!
