Automatic Transmissons, I don't get it?
Seriously, what's the fun in "driving" a Corvette equipped with an automatic transmission? The car practically drives itself! Half the fun in driving a stick is the threat of embarrassment by stalling at any of the 27 red lights I get stuck at in a given day? Rowing through the gears makes every trip an adventure, especially when my parents need me to drive them somewhere, and with every shift exaggerate their body motions until they're practically smashing their heads on the windshield, or with the GF who's never been in a manual car, and thinks I'm slamming on the brakes when I depress the clutch.
My left calf muscle is roughly the size of a beach ball, yet another hidden benefit of manual transmission cars.

I personally don't know how to drive an auto, so I had to buy the manual.

I know this thread is made in jest but it is true that for some gimps like me(t-6 paraplegic), auto is the only option. I have yet to own a dual clutch auto but I am really glad that the option is there for many non-domestic performance cars.: woohoo:

Yeah but you missed out on the opportunity to eventually have a right calf muscle the size of Arnold Schwarzenegger's calves when he was in his prime.

Ya know that is a sad truth!
They're already making fun of your black wheels, why would you let girly transmission remarks bother you?
I can see the day coming when my knees hurt, or my coordination is poor, or my leg muscles cramp from the clutch, and I'll be forced to buy an automatic.
But that's at least a few months away. For now, I'll enjoy the M6.

Although this topic has been beat to death before...many times, I'll chime in for the newbies.
When I was in my early 20's-30's, all I ever owned was sports cars with 4 speed manuals.
They are great for having fun, showing off, etc, and great when your on the highway .
The city where I live nearby, has tons of hills with stop lights on top of most of them.
It was a real pain driving in the city, so when I got older, and decided on the vette, the first thing I wanted was an Auto, and with the paddle shift, it was the best of both worlds.
I'll never have another stick, and apparently GM seems to be heading that way with the Auto in the 2015 Z06, which will be owned by older folks that have had sticks and no longer want the hassle.
These threads are always started by those that think a vette is no good if it doesn't have a manual. Get on with it. If you want a stick, get it and leave everyone else alone...you bullies

You're right, most people don't understand stage IV advanced sarcasm. It just feels so lifelike to the uninitiated.
