Default Tangible reasons for Coupe vs Convertible

This is mine. There's actually an entire different layer under the top one - two 40lb boxes of kitty litter, another 50lb bag of horse feed...

I don't do this often, but when I need to do errands it's nice to do them on my way home from work - I hate running errands on weekends which I do if the dually is a necessity. And I can't make myself commute in the dually - when I drive into work, the C6 is my only choice.

And my baby handles the weight like a champion. I could feel the difference in my past TL and RX when I hauled feed, but can't feel (or see any stance change) in the vette.

Been there done that. I used to have a Ford diesel but could not make myself drive it to work. Had to take the Vette.
Sold the Ford and have been DD a C6 since 05. Love to drive em.

...for another pup/cat person!

We've used the wife's C6 convertible for hauling also - not as much room as the Z06 but close.

I've had six vettes, three coupes and three verts. In the end the choice has to be what you feel really connects with you. As far as hauling stuff around, the coupe does a good job and my vert does a good job also. Just remember, with the vert there is a large trunk space but if you intend to put the top down, the trunk space is greatly reduced. Of course, if you have a coupe and you fill up the rear area, you can't take your top off either unless you are leaving it at home.

Otherwise there seem to be different camps regarding the looks of the vert compared to the coup. Also, the vert has a little lower top-end rating I think. That doesn't matter to me in the least.

Verts typically have a higher resale value if that matters to you (that means you will likely pay more for it when you purchase it).

Get what speaks to you.

For me it was track days. A lot of tracks, and pretty much all sanctioning bodies I'm aware of, require a roll bar if you're running a vert.

Yeah, it's like a mini pickup truck. I take mine to the nursery and Home Depot. It's amazing how much stuff I can store back there. Then there is the passenger seat. I took the targa off last year to haul a bound Christmas tree. I use thick blankets when hauling dirty stuff. My interior remains in pristine condition.

IMHO the coupe's the more practical choice for a DD.

And I'll bet it gets better mileage than either your TL or RX.

I used both as DDs for ten years and I really don't have a preference either way. As long as I have a vette I am good to go.

I've owned more than a few Corvettes over the past 40+ years, every single one of them a convertible. There is no substitute, and no comparison. I have driven many, many coupes and to me, they are just not as much fun. And no, taking the targa top off does not make them "just like a convertible". Not even close.

Buying a Corvette because of it's cargo capacity or increased practicality?

Give me a break. Go buy a truck.

Nice! Hatches are awesome. We moved a dining table, a treadmill, a ping pong table, and a bunch of other stuff (at different times) I don't recall in my old Trans Am. Good looking AAAAND functional.

Meh... Personal preference... I didn't buy for what I could haul although there have been benefits with the Vert. The wife can only pack so much crap in it.

As long as you're happy with it is all that is important.

I HAVE a truck - a 2013 Chevy 3500HD Dually. I LOVE the truck. I just don't have any desire to drive it to work. I drive the vette every work day, which is mostly 5 days a week (except when I decide to wfh). I run errands on the way home. It's the best of both worlds for me, cause I just cannot drive this car enough - so whether it's flying thru the hills, or packed to the gunnels with crap I have to bring home, she's my weekday ride. Truck is reserved for BIG stuff - like hauling the 4 horse trailer, or hauling quantities of hay.

HAHA. Well, lets say she "could" get better gas mileage than my TL or RX. But the way I drive her, she doesn't! I DON'T drive more than about 7 mph over the speed limit (hmm, except while shifting...), but I sure love hearing that exhaust when rowing, and I end up doing a lot of rowing in the commute - most fun in the country windy section where traffic is low, and tight, windy corners are many - whoppee!!!

Rule one: Guys with convertibles get more girls!

Rule two: Who says?
