My reason? Many years in the heavy trucking business, backing up is a conditioned thing for me.

Don't really know how well they work on angle parking if set to straight front on parking. Tried contacting the company and didn't get a response on that or the "alert" signal tone type. If the alert tone is of a high frequency, those with bad hearing may not be able to hear it properly.

If I do not back in I pull in to where i know I am not even close to the curb, get out look and most of the time it is good enough and no need to move forward any further.

I never back in, and I never hit the curb. Practice makes perfect, I guess. Usually other long cars parked around me stick out farther, so I feel no real pressure to get as close as possible to the curb.

I installed mine in the opening in the air splitter on the right side, it would of alerted me to that curb on the OP's picture, but maybe not if it was the other angle of pulling into the spot, the frequency is not that high that if you are tone deaf would not be able to hear it plus it's fairly loud, I hear mine clearly even with the top off & music playing..
