Legal tint is not a scientific test. In my city a retiree volunteer inspects your tint by having you sit in the drivers seat and if he can see you it's legal. Worth a try if your city has a similar test. Make sure your Vette is parked with the sun shinning on the drivers side.

In the state of CA, no after market tint is legal on the driver/passenger side windows. That being said, every LEO I know has stated the same thing. If they can read your drivers license through the tint, being held up against the window, they will not ticket you for the tint. It's a common courtesy to let it go, but the actual law is that NO after market tint is allowed on these windows. But, I've never gotten pulled over for tint in the past 20+ years. It's always for something else and the tint is "thrown in" as a freebie which apparently my mouth has talked its way in to.

Not true.

You can tint the windows but there are limits.

I normally say never admit guilt and fight every ticket especially moving violations that can affect your insurance cost. Most insurance companies only up your rate after two moving violations in a three year period but you should always fight the first one. But... in your case with only 5 over the limit, at least in PA, that is not a moving violation that warrants any points and is therefore not reported to your insurance company. Two violations can up your rate 30 to 40% for three years, so that's what really hurts. Getting it dismissed may be harder than people here think. But it shouldn't hurt your insurance cost.

Lawyer up.

Get a lawyer, they will know what to do,
and will save you the headache of what
the outcome will be without one.

It would be cheaper to pay 10 tickets and buy stock in aspirin for that headache compared to paying attorny fees.

5 MPH over is a ticket there? In Pa it's not. My speeding ticket years ago was 53 in a 35 zone. I met the cop before the trial & he let me plead to 5 miles over with no points. You should try to do the same. I always thought they give you leeway of at least 5mph for speedometer error?

Pay the fines and move on. Around here you would have to show that you removed the tint as well.

On my way to work in Brooklyn one night, pulled over and approached by 2 cops, hands on their guns. Window tint on all 4 Acura windows, first thing I did was power down the 2 front then the 2 rear windows so cops could clearly see in. They broke 'em but let me go with a warning, seems there was some kind of drug activity in the area (in Brooklyn, couldn't believe it...LOL!) and my white Acura with tints fit the description.

And BTW, they had a device which slipped over the top of the window and measured the degree of tint.

So in Pa. the speed limit signs say 55+- 5?

Just pay the tint ticket.

For the speeding, the CHP will respond to a Trial by Declaration and will be in court to testify. Count on it. The officer will say he tagged the other car at whatever speed over 70 and say you were passing (from what you've said) indicating that you were speeding. You can then say that you weren't passing, were going the same speed, or were passing.

Nothing about this sounds like BS. You know what happened and will be saying so under oath. Nothing here that needs a lawyer to figure out. Go to online traffic school, pay your fines, and move along.

Am betting there is more to it than just being pulled for the tint, and the speeding ticket.

Agree on the above, the OP sounds like a wuss. My advice is grab your sack and man up instead of trying to gain sympathy/support for your obvious wrong doing..........

Seems to me he didn't have you on radar and he didn't have you by pacing you, i would say i was driving within the speed limit and fight it, as far as the tint i would jut take it off and pay the reduced ticket

To 2 tickets in one week...should I fight them?

should ask a doctor to fake a note for you cause your fine you don't know if god gave you a reason by losing your eye cause you asked for it so leave the tint away, there is a good deal for you a colourless tint.

I don't think any Dr is going to hand out a fake note, not worth the risk.
