You can use ANY dexos1 licensed oil, meaning any blend or full synthetic oil that has been licensed, read as , paid GM, and has the dexos1 approved symbol.

Also note that dexos2 is approved for European GM products or diesels stateside. So as far as compatibility, and quality, you could use it here without harm to your engine, but it won't meet GMs requirement for dexos1. It's like here in the states, it's 5/30, in Europe, it's a 10/40. For the longest time I've used Euro 10/40 until recently when I was given some Joe Gibbs Driven LS30 to try.

Most of the girls here will faint if anything but Mobil 1 is put in their vettes, but truth be told, there are many quality oils that can/do meet or exceed Mobil specs.

Truth in Advertising ---- If XYZ Oil Co. had paid GM and sponsored their ALMS program, XYZ would have been on the oil cap instead of Mobil 1.

Here is a list of dexos licensed oils

I have a 2012 gs.take it to the dealer for oil change.spent 70K for the car,why not use what the factory engineers reccomond?to me its a no brainer.i have a Harley CVO,and use Harley oil.i have a kawasaki ZX14 and I use Kawasaki oil.you cannot ever go wrong with the oil that came with the car or bike.very simple the people who developed it used that oil,so its good enough for me.have never had a engine problem or engine failure.

I think this change took place for MY 2012 and only applies to wet sump oilers.

A6 cars didn't come with dry sumps. And mechanically speaking, other than the method of oil retention, an LS3 is an LS3, all GM did was require a license for their oil, nothing changed internally as far a clearance etc. when GM went to dexos1. You noticed that the price of the car didn't drop when the change went into effect......

Rotella T6 from walmart. I use it in everything I own.
This oil is awesome. I have been running it in my harley and other cars for years. do your research on this oil and you will see what im talking about. You Harley Owners should really look into it as well!!! I know some of you are folks are scared to deviate from what the awesome engineers at GM say because they know best, but its worth looking into.

Default i WAS JUST GOING TO POST AN OIL THREAD AND ASK A QUESTION...

From the Mobil 1 site...
What's the right oil for my car?

Your vehicle has a specific recommendation.

The company that manufactures your vehicle recommends this Mobil 1 product, or has a special requirement.

Current Vehicle:
Year: 2013
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Corvette
Engine Type: 8cyl. 6.2Liter Naturally Aspirated

New Search View printable

Mobil 1 or Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30
Your vehicle calls for an oil that is approved to the GM dexos 1 specs. Both Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 and Mobil 1 5W-30 are officially dexos 1 licensed products. For fuel economy consider Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy, also an officially dexos 1 licensed oil.

0w-30??Really?? My car is a '13 GS.

Dexos is about as cheap as conventional oil. They changed over to dexos right around the time they started offering free maintenance/oil changes. Coincidence?
