Rookie Question
I am the original owner of my 08. It has 5600 miles on it and is used for date nights with the wife or to drive to club events. Last night (date night), it wouldn't fire up right away. There was a delay of about 20 seconds before it started and when it did, there was a chime and the display read, "Service Required Soon" or something very similar.
Everything on the car is original (except coolant and oil). It is garage kept and on a battery tender.
Can someone tell me what they think the issue might be or what I can expect?
Thanks in advance

Even though it is on a battery tender, the battery is 5-6 years old. with the little driving you do, I would think that the battery is about at the end of its life. Low voltage will cause you to get different error messages.

I just had the oil and coolant changed a few months back. But, the battery could easily be the issue. After dinner, it started right up and no more message.

5,600 miles?
It's your car's way of saying, "Drive me! Drive me!"
When I traded my '07 - bought new - it had 126,000 trouble-free miles on it. I've already put 8,000 on the CTS-V I traded the C6 for.... oh, and the Ferrari I bought last June, I've put 8,000 miles on that too...
I agree with the others - new battery should resolve the problem.

Same thing happened to my C4 and C5. Battery tender said it was charged, but a 5 years old battery that doesn't get used all the time weakens. Agreed with above, better safe than sorry....for $100 a new battery will give you peace of mind that is will turn over when you want it too!

Modern cars with the various computer modules & electronics that remain minimally active for some time,
even after the car is shut-off, are hard on batteries, with the Corvette's battery often being a victim.

If by wouldn't fire - you mean nothing happened - is common that the key fob wasn't recognized. Sometimes when in a pocket next to other things - the signal dosen't get thru right away.
