Default C6 won't turn over even after new battery

While driving today I noticed my battery volts was at 12.5 and slowly decreasing after driving for about 3 miles I received a warning saying warning system charging (something like that) after a another mile my car dies. I pulled over and went and got another battery when installed I couldn't still get it to turn over. Anyone got any suggestions is it the alternator ?

sounds like the alternator is not charging. dont know why it wouldnt start with the second battery. Is the second battery charged up?

Check the battery connections, particularly the connection right at the starter. That has been known to be a problem in a few cases.

Hard to believe even the terminal connections are critical.

Inspect and clean cables as required, A brownish colored cable end is a poor conductor.

A bad alternator won't keep the car from turning over with a new good battery.

Lots of posts on this Forum about damaged battery cable end clamps. Missing "acorn" nuts, etc.

Have you tested the new battery to make sure it's good?

The "new battery" may have been on the shelf awhile and wasn't fully charged. No reason for it not to turn over if the battery is good and cable connections are tight.

Turned out to be a bad starter. Thanks for the help!

So you're sure it was starter drag that used up your battery?

I went back to my old battery because it tested fine and once the starter was replaced worked perfectly still at correct voltages and no issues starting.
