Default 2008 Corvette C6 Base $20,000 ???

Hello,

Im about to pull the trigger on this deal since i never found the Z i was looking for. I had a 2009 C6 with 23,000 miles and gave it away last year for $28,000 in hopes to jump into a C6 Z, well, I still haven't found the Z I want. I have a C5 but want a C6 again. I have a friend who is selling me his 2008 Base 1LT Automatic C6 with 92,600 miles for $20,000 even! My question to you guys is... does this sound like a good deal? Im very iffy about it since the car is so close to 100,000 miles and resale value might not be as good. I personally know these LS engines last forever, but others don't. Here are a few pictures of the Vette and the interior. The Vette is completely stock with the exception of the light blackout covers which can be removed. Other issue, my friend bought it about a year ago with 35,000 miles, it now has 92,600 miles. Yes, he put 57,600 miles in a year! His job is 2 hours away from his house and he takes the vette all over the state for his job.

Please let me know what you all think. Any and all advise/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks 07, it should only be a temp car for a year or two. I might just skip the C6 Z, and go into a C7 in a couple of years. The 2009 I had I put 800 miles in a year, so you are right. At most miles it will have 94K-94.5K when time comes to sell.

Haha! Yea man, the C6 Z is the ultimate car from what I have heard... The money for the HP and performance is just insane. Some of my buddies who drive Shelby GT-500's always tell me their dream car is the C6 Z, but they got the Shelby because of their kid or kids (extra 2 seats). It says a lot about the C6 Z. Hopefully I'll find one in the near future. Yea I'm 26, no kids, no wife, have a great career and own my home. That's why I refuse to drive anything but a Vette! Hahaha (With the exception of my daily driver)

I am now watching a cl0se friend go through the "raping" part of selling a low mileage C6 (2010 GS).. bought the car for 50k a little more than a year ago and can't even get $40k for it today.. terrible..

On the other hand op, like you, I was hesitant to go for a higher mileage '08 C6 as opposed to buying a lower mileage '06-07 for the same money.

I couldn't be happier with my 94k mile one owner, well documented '08 C6. the 06-07 would be losing hundreds every month compared to near "pennies" for this LS3 car..

Great feeling knowing that the car isn't dropping like a brick in value lol..

Sounds like this car was well cared for by your friend, should bring you lots of joy... and if you dump it in a year or two, you won't take some ridiculous hit on it..

I do not see any downside to this deal at all.

Ask yourself if you are really going to be happy with it. You already had a 2009 and you want a Z06. So you're going to settle for an automatic 2008?

I'd say wait for the Z.

I'd save your money for the Z, it's a nice car, but the price is fair-good. It looks like a nice conditioned car with high miles that is 6 years old. I would think when you try to resell it to get a Z you may have a tough time doing so, unless you give it away. 20K for a car that age and that many miles seems fair-good deal. A lot of people may say they'd take it, but when push comes to shove I don't think many will. I'd hang onto your cash and save for your Z. 08's are everywhere, if it is such a great deal you wouldn't even have to question it. A lot of nice Z's are in the low 30's with lower miles and 505HP and are insanely sick to look at

stop the nonsense and just get what you really want or you will just get tired of the 08 and want the Z in about a year. Patience and beer my friend, patience and beer...

A 1LT auto is about as far away from a Z as you can get and still be a Vette. I'd pass and save for the REAL Corvette you want.

Me, I have an '08 1LT stick with 23K miles. The 6M makes it FUN for me.

Judging from the pictures, it looks like your friend kept up with everything on the car. If most of those miles were highway miles, I'd go for it. Like you said before, you would only be putting minimal miles on it for 2 years or so until you go for z06 anyway. Good Luck

If the car is still in good condition, $20,000 doesn't seem too bad. Make sure you check it over good.

since your asking for opinions, i'd save my money and buy the Z. there are those on the forum that quarrel like girlie boys as to which is the better car, g.s. or base. the Z tops them both. you know it and i know it. i wish i had the money for the Z when i bought my 013 last year. your young, save for the Z! thats my opinion and i'm sticking to it.

I'd be all over it for 20k but if your heart is set on a Z I'd pass.

20k?!! That's a steal even if it needs things like tires. You really aren't losing if you buy this car.

This is in response to everybody from Tonygxp to 84c4vette: Thank you guys very much! Yes, I want to hear any and all opinions, comments, suggestions good or bad. I really appreciate everybody's input. Its making me think a bit more. Because yes I literally want a C6 Z, that's my ultimate goal. But seems like they are still priced pretty high (which I have nothing against, I'm all for Vettes holding their value, especially the street king Z).

I ran the carfax on this C6 and it checked out excellent, says its $500 above value based on the vehicles carfax history. My buddy also told me he always took it to the dealer to get it serviced every single time. The tires are brand new, about 2 months old. The car is as close to perfect as possible. I'm meeting up with him tomorrow at a dedicated corvette shop. I'm going to let the Vette techs check it out and see what they think. Originally I wanted to pay $18,000 for it, that's the reason I was so excited. But my buddy wouldn't bite

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with side stepping...would just wait and save until I could buy a z06. Especially if that is ultimately your final goal.

Everything else is pretty much just fluff in the meantime. Especially if you are already in a C5.
