Hmmm, I don't know...that's a pretty close call.
Yupper....it's nice to have a light parity thread once in a while.
But no matter how many times it's explained, there are always guys that take it seriously, and get offended.
Sometimes I think there's very little humor left on forums anymore.

A) lower it too far
B) have wheels that are too wide (i.e. GS/Z06/ZR1)

I didn't know that, thought all car washes were an evil thing for 'vettes.

Once the Grand Sport became available in 2010, I thought sales of the "Base", or narrow body Corvette, would have fallen to zero.
Yet, some folks continued to buy what looks like an anorexic version of a real Corvette, why?
That bad boy, big ***, wide tire look, of the Grand Sport made me say "yessss", the very first time I saw it.
I thought it might be interesting to discuss why anyone would want to buy it's anemic looking little brother?
Oh I know tires wear faster on a GS, and it cost a few grand more, but hey, Corvette buyers are a pretty affluent crowd.
I wouldn't think that would make anyone go all girly, with a narrow body.
So the question remains why? Let's have a nice civil discussion, because this is not some kind of invitation to argue over which is better.

I really like the wider look but do not care for the gills behind the front tires and the scoop in front of the rears and on the hood. I also do not like the wheels. I have always preferred a simple, clean look and the base with gumby's was exactly I wanted. They all look like art to me and art is subjective.

when i bought my "base" vette from the dealer he had 2 cars left. one was a 012 demo g.s. white coupe with about 4000 on the clock. price-59 grand. then he had "mine" on the showroom floor. a 013 nrbm base 2lt coupe brand new, o miles on the clock. to me it was a no brainer. brand new vs. 012 demo 10 grand more than the new base model. and the color was much better. don't like white, silver or yellow. for another 30 grand i could have bought the z6 but the wife would have KILLED ME. and the other thing, they both have the same motor in them. 436 hp. wider didn't make a difference to me. i love my base nrbm coupe. to each his own my friend.

Couple of reasons:
1. My C6 A6 1LT is my 'starter'. Kinda like a starter home, I see more 'vettes in my future. My wife may get this one when her 2001 Firebird LS1 finally gives out... but still going strong at 55k miles.
2. I like the wide body look... but.... my black/black with chrome gumby wheels has really grown on me. I'm starting to 'appreciate' the narrow bods a bit more.
3. Cost... yes this was a factor. This is a 3rd vehicle for me and I couldn't justify spending a whole lot of money on a 'want' instead of a 'need'. Gotta keep putting some $$$ away for the kids college fund and retirement.

Ok….i have the 12 GS….love the kind of "bad ***" look…but also had a 99C5 and then later the first C6 when it came out….loved them too! The C5 was black/black/black vert….with mods of red and chrome….a very powerful and "stealthy" look…..its all in what hits at the moment you open the wallet! Actually….just exactly how much wider is the "wide body?"
