Default Anybody get 'tramlining"?

Also known as groove tracking. I do, even with fairly new tires. Supposedly its characteristic of wider tires, but I've never had the problem before until the tires were about shot.

Do you mean like it wants to follow cracks and such in the road or the dips the road gets from peoples tires after a long time?

Yes, exactly. It can also happen on wider roads where the strips of asphalt come together.

Absolutely! There are quite a few roads around my area that will throw you side to side if you don't have a firm grip on the wheel, I thought my mid-90's Camaro was bad but my GS is much worse for this issue.

Yep! Pretty bad in the GS, but pretty typical for wide low profile performance tires. I've wondered if the super stiff sidewall on the run-flats make it worse than it has to be!

Hmmm doesn't happen too much with my vette that much that i can remember but I haven't drove it since last fall.. Stupid PA... But it happens a lot more in my 03 wrx in the summer. My stock wheels are 16x6.5 and my summers are 17x8 and the bigger than stock tires like to wonder more, especially when slowing down on a not so new road

I experienced severe tramlining on 2 different sets of OEM Goodyears. When I switched to the Firestone run-flats the tramlining disappeared, the car rides smoother and the tire noise is reduced.

I experienced more with zero toe. Tried it and was a fan.

Now with just a touch of toe not a problem that is noticed.

I have the narrow body with OEM size wheels.

I get it all the time here, even with roads that don't appear crowned. Stock '08 coupe with stock Goodfear tires. I figure since we don't have any potholes, I won't complain much but there are a couple roads I'm definitely two-handing the steering wheel and perhaps appearing drunk.

Good Year Supercars were terrible; Changed over to Michelin PS2ZP's and problem went away. Now after 11000 miles on the Michelins, still no problem.

I noticed it right away on my 11 GS, and I was surprised because I thought we got rid of that when we went from biased ply tires to radial tires ... but I guess not.

Oh yeah, it's a combination of footprint and suspension geometry. You can reduce the cause by changing the frt end geometry, but then you will cause excessive treadwear. I find that inflation pressures also affect how much I experience.

Believe it or not, mine is just the opposite. I went from GY Supercar Runflats to Michelin Pilot Super Sport non-runflats, and the problem got much worse. I can't understand it ... possibly the more flexible sidewall in the Michelins?
