Default Product for cleaning brake calipers?

I was washing my '05 Vette over the weekend which I have had for a couple of weeks. Has anyone used or know of a cleaning product that works for getting the brake calipers with the Corvette name clean? I tried using Mequire's wheel cleaner but that didn't work?

Are they painted or anything? For a good cleaning, brake cleaner and wire brush works really well, and after you do that paint them a color of your choice!

Thanks....I like the idea that it's not as "aggressive" as Brake Cleaners. That was a concern of mine especially if I accidently got some on the paint. I just ordered it on Amazon. Will try it this weekend!

When using Simple Green make sure you rinse throughly otherwise it could cause problems, it will eat paint not to mention aluminum and steel if left in prolonged contact.

Never had a problem with Simple Green in the past 15 years. I dilute it from concentrate 4:1. Of course with any cleaner you'll want to rinse it thoroughly. That is all I use on my chrome wheels along with a decent coat of wax. On my non corvette cars I use it as an engine cleaner as well. Just spray in on a cold engine, let it sit for 5-10 minutes and rinse, saying away from heavy rinse on electrical components. And no, I don't own stock in SG, just love the stuff from most everything except windows. I do use a good regular car wash detergent on the finish.

wheel cleaner and a toothbrush and then really let it soak in. If that doesn't work move on to brake cleaner.

besides, you're low on milk and needed a new toothbrush anyway :p

I like that Adams product and use it on all my vehicle's wheels (including my Subie Outback). It is good but who really knows what product is the best wheel cleaner?! I will say that the Adams cleaner smells so good that I am tempted to drink the stuff I guess I could state that it smells the best.

there is no one size fits all scenario.... you generally want to start least abrasive / acidic and work you way up as needed.
