Default Service traction system warning?

So I'm driving my 2008 C6 today and as I'm accelerating with the traction control off The car starts to vibrate, I could feel it through the shifter too. Text appears on the speedometer/tach that says, " service traction system, and what looks like a transmission outline to the left of the text flashes on and off intermittently. I drove home slowly. I have GMPP. Never had a problem before so I don't know how to proceed. What's my next step? Thanks for any help.

With it running rough, it could be a coil wire off or bad, like this:

Could be a wheel speed sensor.

Autozone or similar parts store can read the codes for free.

Or just take it in and let the dealer fix it.

You have GMPP. What's your deductible, $50? $100? One or two tanks of gas?

Take it in and get it fixed.

As posted above, likely a sensor has gone bad. Bad steering wheel position sensors have been known to cause similar issues. I would get it to a dealer ASAP. EDIT - check the plug wires first (I need to pay more attention to some of the useful posts by others )

We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your C6. If you decide to head into a dealer, let us know! We'd be happy to follow up on your experience.

Yep - Happened to me in my 2011 with approximately 1500 miles on it; bad plug wire. Replaced them all with the MSD 8.8s.

this thread is 7 years old. I doubt if the OPis paying attention anymore. As far as your plug wires sometimes they work loose . Check the connection at both endsif it comes off then crimp it a little and re plug it. This is caused by heat in the engine bay
