that.s not 100% true, the dyno has a correction factor, and with the low coefficient of drag that the C6 has its even less true. but I do agree it didnt hit 200 mph on the dyno in the correct gear that is usually used to dyno a car

they should dyno in 4th for a manual 3rd for the a4 and 4th for the a6 I actually hit 142 @ 7100 rpm in 3rd a4 trans, some tuners use it to check shift points with the settings in the tuning software just to see how far off it is to calculate changes, of course tire size has to be correct

it will probably go even faster as long as they turned the speed limiter off or higher

Get what you want. I was looking for specific white with red interior, M6 LT3. Took me over a year to find one and it had the F55 option but not the Z51. I finally found an 07 last Aug with 9700 miles on it. I'm glad I waited for what I wanted. Red interior is getting more popular. Good Luck.

If you buy the 05 you'll be fine as long as you stay away from any more car forums especially ones with vendor sale threads.

If you buy the 08 you'll be fine as long as you stay away from any more car forums especially ones with vendor sale threads.

Regardless of what you start out with there's always something more to buy, to fix, to upgrade, something faster, something cooler, something neater.....assuming, of course, you're like anyone else that has ever owned a car....or house.....or bicycle....or....you get the point.

I bought an 05 because of the deal I got on it and I had never owned a Corvette and had no frame of reference outside the 06 GTO I had. And the Vette is a whole 'nother animal

Here's something to keep in mind....even if the 08 is faster/better/newer if you don't like looking at it you'll always have second thoughts.

Yeah, you can apply a correction factor, but without air resistance, without the front wheels turning, without friction from a real road surface, without any wind and without any hills, it's a gross calculation, not a true measurement. Kind of the opposite of calculating HP and torque from 0-60 times or something similar instead of measuring HP and torque.

"Going 200 mph" on a dyno is easy for a C6. Actually hitting 200 mph on a real road is a different matter entirely.

I've had mine pushing 170 a few times - legally. I can't imagine what 200 is like.

A stock C6, depending on year, tires, gearing, etc. could get close to or touch 200 for real, not on a dyno. I've had mine to 170 a few times on a course. That's in 5th gear with an A6. I suspect on a long enough straight I could push 200, but I have no plans to try it.

mine use to feel like that with the runflats, then with skinnies and drag radials it feels very stable

Yes a dyno can show speed and Yes a stock C6 can be spun to 200 on a dyno. As long as there is gear most any car will do it as well. Stupid to do so but it doesn't take a ton of power to do it with no wind resistance/load/etc on the car.

Dynos are tuning tools and should only be looked at as such. People that brag about dyno numbers but don't see the track or run their car are worthless.

Put a dyno number on a poster and head down to the local car cruise. Worthless.

I race mine but have no intention - or need - to dyno it. Dunno what that makes me.
