Default Looking for Pics of those who have painted there GS / Z06 Brake Calipers

Thinking of painting my GS calipers and looking for pics of those that have. And yes I know about powder coating them, with Mike, but $40 is a lot cheaper than doing powder coat and if I don't like it then I will get them powder coated later since to get them powder coat them they have to be sandblasted anyway so rather spend $40 now to see how I like it first.

I did paint my 05 C6's Calipers and they turned out pretty good and only had 1 small chip after a year with G2 caliper paint.

Thanks!

You may have already considered this. While you have wheels off why not paint the rotor hats. I did mine a week ago and used high temp heat paint satin black. My GS Calipers are the silver color with red corvette decal logo's. Been thinking about changing color to match car which is CRM.

This is G2 epoxy paint, new decals, and three coats of VHT clear. My only advice is to take all four wheels off the car first, and have all four calipers cleaned and ready to paint. Once you mix the catalyst into the paint, you don't want to waste time jacking the car and unmounting wheels.

I painted mine and have painted all of my cars calipers with VHT and then made my own caliper decals (I have them) then clear-coated over them, and they still look good as new!

I used "Heat Resistance" black paint, something like engine paint works good.

Sorry for the dirty picture but to get a nice color grey on the hubs I used VHT Light Grey Primer SP148 and then shot it with VHT Gloss Clear SP145. Dirt comes right off if it even sticks at all.I did these two years ago and this is what they still look like today

I got mine on the big auction site. That was before I saw somebody here that makes them. Might wanna search "caliper stencils".

Mine on my 2010 GS were painted over 10,000 miles ago with plain old Krylon paint from Home Depot and decals from a vendor on eBay. The secret is to be sure the calipers are CLEAN and DRY before painting.

No idea why the photo keeps coming out upside down. Any advice on that???

Default Wanting to clean and Paint 2012 GS Brake Rotor Hubs

Lee,
Just saw your picture of your hubs. Wondering what you used to clean your hubs. I have a little rust, so need to clean and paint. On your paint color, did you use a flat or satin black? Someone said to use sliver or gray, but not sure. My car color is Supersonic Blue with chrome spoke wheels...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,

Rick Humerickhouse

Well, Rick, all I did was clean with water and Dawn detergent (AZ car, no rust). If it's just surface rust, an abrasive pad (scotchbrite) should do the trick on the rust. I used satin black to match everything else on my car. You should use whatever color YOU think will look good!
