GS vs CTS-V
My Brother <wink> pulled up to a light with his 13 GS 436 HP MT right next to a New Cad CTS-V 556 HP jacked up in the back, BIG tires and sport wheels and red calipers. The light turned green and the GS jumped the Cad 3 or 4 car lengths out of the hole. The GS tacked up to about 4 grand and lost traction (50 F) and started fishtailing with mild wheel hop, he short shifted to second to try to regain traction but it locked up for a few hundred RPM and started spinning just like in 1st gear. Short shifted again into 3rd and it locked up real nice only to see the Cad in the rear view mirror 8-10 car lengths back so let off after travling an 1/8 of a mile. He was crusing along normally and the Cad still tring to make a run of it come fllying by like a sidewinder missle....too late it was over, no match. Should he have had the Mag ride in the GS in sport?...and let me tell you the Launch controll works like a dream....and sugestions welcome and I willl let my brother know<wink>

Hard to believe the CTS was that far behind with all the problems you were having.

First, did the V know they were racing? Second, no way a stock GS can outrun a V like that. My buddy has a V and I have a GS. We will line them up after I get back from Vegas to see what happens.

I don't worry about the CTS-V with light bolt-ons but stock an LS3 equipped Vette would lose IMO.

If the CTS driver was actually racing, your "brother" would have gotten his *** handed to him.

I had a 2011 CTS-V and still have my 08 Corvette. Seat of the pants feel, the V was faster and my vette put down 424 at the rear wheels with my mods. I agree, the V driver didn't know your buddy was racing...
I never raced my V on the street but there were not a lot of cars that could beat me off a light to speed limit, including the GS. I had a manual.

The factory CTS-Vs and LS3 Corvettes are pretty close in 0-60 and quarter mile times. The CTS-V coupe has a top speed of 198mph...edging out the Corvette equipped LS3.

My modded 07 is dead even with a CTS-V sedan. Think the coupe would win.

Stock CTS-V should make around 480-500rwhp, but also weighs about 800-1000lbs more than the Vette. Based on that I would expect them to be very close in straight line performance.

I've owned both of those cars. The fat Caddy needs every bit of the extra HP to hang with the GS, but it does!!! Driver skills being equal that "race" could have gone either way

Burning Brakes
Researched both before GS purchase. Only real problem with them is that they DRINK gas. But it's expected with the *****-to-the-wall performance given what it's carrying around.
