Can a dealer add NPP?
I'm new to the C6 side of the forum (mostly on C2, my "other" Vette). My 2012 Base Convertible came with the 3LT package, but not with the NPP. Has anyone had their Chevrolet dealer add NPP on after they had the car? Can it even be done? What was the cost (approximate) if so? I don't want to go aftermarket unless I have to. Any other options for stock NPP? Thanks, Nick

Frankly I think you'd be really hard pressed to find a dealer that would have a clue regarding how to add the factory system.

You could try and find someone who had the NPP system on their 'Vette and removed it to upgrade to an after market system. That would at least get you a better cost on the parts. Not sure I would take it to the dealer to install as there are so many cheaper alternatives to having it done if you do not want to do it yourself.
To refine on what 96GCS#007 said, a dealer mechanic is more familiar with warranty repairs than anything. Not assembly and building. So, there is not any benefit of going to a dealer for the install. Unless you just feel the need and desire to pay more. If they install it, it's not going to then be covered by your OEM warranty. So, you are probably better off taking it to a muffler/exhaust shop than the dealer. Speciality shops are there for a reason...

(I paid $625 for a near new local set), then get a npp-in-a-box ~$180 from various forum vendors and you're in control by the push of a button.
adding a npp set-up to function like from the factory requires plenty more parts and labor IF it is possible at all since it is eventually all controlled through the cars computer if orig equipped.
plus most people w a factory npp add the remote option anyways.

No! Save your self some money, buy a set of used NPP and get the NPP in a box kit to control it. That is as close as your going to get. If the car didn't come with it from the factory it's not going to happen.

its easy the way many (like me) do/did it by getting a set of npp mufflers, I. e. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191090311285...84.m1423.l2649

You cannot get OEM function of the NPP from a Dealer or from GM. It's programmed into the ECM (or BCM?).
You can add all physical OEM pieces and an aftermarket controller by Sunset Orange Creations that will function the same as OEM with the RPM controlled opening AND it will give you manual control of the NPP valves opening and closing. Lots of controller options from inexpensive to high priced.

NPP refers to the OEM option code. It consists of bi-mode mufflers and a vacuum system that is controlled through the car's computer.
You can buy the mufflers (commonly called NPP mufflers) or other OEM bi-mode mufflers (commonly called Z06 or ZR1 mufflers) and add them to a non-NPP equipped car and then control them like haljensen noted.

I would be more than happy to get in touch with a local dealer on your behalf; private message me your contact information, including zip code and the VIN. From here I will be able to get you a quote and timeframe to add this to your Vert. Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day!

My 2010 didn't have it either. My dealer said he could install it. I was able to add the NPP on my own, so I didn't have him do it. I bought almost new mufflers and npp in a box.
