Default Need some help here

I know that some opinions will be biased, but I need to ask anyway.

I went by MacMulkin Chevy this past weekend and took a real close look at the new C7 vette. I currently own a 2013 Grand Sport Coupe with 2LT option group. Is it worth the upgrade at this time? The 2014 I am looking at is a NON Z51 coupe. They seem to be giving great deals on the non Z51 cars and holding at retail for the Z51 equipped models.

Again, is the Z51 option worth more money? I do not and will not track the car. The 2013 Grand Sport I have is an auto, so the diff cooler and dry sump were not offered.

What are the performance specs between the cars equipped with Z51 and the cars not equipped with z51? This will help in my decision.

Basically, is it worth the upgrade now? Will the non Z51 coupe be enough of an upgrade that I will feel it? Or should I hold on for now and wait it out a little?

I also submitted this in the C7 forum as well to get a broader opinion.

jmho. Z51 or keep your GS..any thing with a Z in the title will be more fun to drive track or no track.....Great looking GS in your avatar..FWIW..I saw my first base model C7 at a dealer in Forth Washington MD on Saturday..it was nice but I kept looking at a GS parked behind it...

IMHO if you are happy with your new C6 you should wait at least a year to trade for a C7. Let them work out the bugs and improve some items, just like they did on the C6.

Z51 will also be offered at a good discount later.
I want a Z51 this time, but will not pay msrp.

That it my plan also.

The 51 is nice, but if you don't plan to track teh car I might think about the non -Z51. Of course I don't know if they will discount the 2015 non-0Z cars right away. You may have to wait a little into the model year.

Who knows what next year will bring, why wait, test drive the C7 and if you like it, money is good buy it without the Z51 option which you will not miss.

Going from a C6 GS to a base C7 non Z51 would be a step down IMO.

When Corv. intro'd the GS, they deleted the term Z51. But the GS has some of the underpinnings of the Z51 package. Therefore, you may be upgrading in a newer car, but you will be changing from a Z51 to a non-Z51 equipped Stingray. Seems to me if you like your current car, then you may like a Z51 Stingray with, or without the added MRC suspension option (which I don't know if you have on your current GS). Your decision.

unless the "siren song" of the C7 is calling to you, you're just going to spend a whole lot of money (net)
on a car with a similar performance profile...are you sure that's what you want to do ?

and I agree with Bill above...

I'd keep your C6 and wait for the C7 you want...

New car prices will drop substantially next year...

that Cyber GS is so sweet, you should hang on to it for a few years.....you bought it because you love it, right?.....you have the rest of the decade to plan for your upgrade when the time is right...

Agree with wayback wait a year see if anything changes. You would definitely notice the difference in the non Z model.

I want to thank the people that gave the input to the thread of "Need some help here". I was on the fence about moving up to the C7 from '13 Grand Sport. Well a decision has been made and my other half has voiced her desire. She stated that she wants to go to Carlisle this year in the new model. We have gone 4 years straight now in the C4 and last year in the C6. She wants the C7. She liked the new vette ever since seeing it in person at Carlisle.

So the C7 it will be. I guess it ain't all that bad. She could say HELL NO, so to have a women that actually likes cars and wants to own them isn't a bad thing.

I saw a great write-up on the differences between the Base & Z51 in Corvette Magazine lately. The writer said that unless you get the Magnetic Selective Ride Control the Z51 has a much harsher ride than the base suspension.

I currently have a 2013 GS with this selectable suspension option and it does make a difference in the ride. I would not buy the Z51 without it. My $0.02.
