Grey rims
I think of going to grey or black rims, but not sure how they would look. The main reason is that it is so hard to keep my OEM rims clean, lots of brake dust and dirt. If you have pics or advice I would really like to know more.

Love my grey rims. They are super easy to keep clean and looking great. Even when they are covered in brake dust, you really have to look closely to tell. Every week, they get washed and hit with a light coat of spray wax.

The black wheels are becoming way to common, plus it takes the right color to pull them off (IMO). Also as with any black they show dirt. The Comp gray are a nice alternative. I happen to have the black chrome on mine and like them, but if I had to change it would most likely be the comp gray.

Change your pads to Ceramic......it will cut down the brake dust by 90%. OEM pads are the pits for dust; I got about 3 days with stock Centennial wheels (Black) before they looked brown. Ceramic pads take about 3 weeks before looking the same as 3 days with OEM's.

I was on the fence about going from grey to black on my wheels, so I plasti-dipped them. Now i am confident that I like the look so the plan is to either buy some black wheels or have these professionally painted/powdercoated. My point, if you aren't afraid of some work, you can plastidip your wheels the shade you are interested in. Cost me like $40 with the glossifier. It looks great and is holding up very well, I just know when its time for new tires it will get messed up (so its not permanent). It can be removed very easily

I have owned four Vettes. One with machine faced wheels, two with Comp Grey, and my current Vette originally had the silver painted wheels that I later changed to the Comp Grey wheels. The grey wheels do not show the brake dust as much as the silver painted wheels. The barrels of the grey wheels are grey which is a bonus in my opinion. Comp Grey is my favorite color of wheels.
Below is a picture of my current Vette with the grey wheels.

Plasti dip first for sure. I did mine last May and really liked it. Really changed the look of my Victory Red car. I just took it off last weekend and my rims are still perfect. At $6 a can at Walmart or Home Depot, good way to see if you really like black. Just make sure to do the inside of the wheels too! Everyone thought I powder coated my wheels. Cool thing was changing back to the chrome last week was like getting a new car, looks so different. Very easy to do, just takes some time.

It is Crystal Red. I suggest that if you are truly thinking about black wheels get teh plasi-Dip and try it. inexpensive and easy to use. If you like it then spend the money on new wheels or have yours powder coated. I for one am not a black wheel guy on a red car. Espically Monterey Red or Crystal Red. Torch Red and Victory Red you can always do the calipers red and also add a red strip around the lip of teh wheel that will help make it stand out, but red calipers and a red strip on teh CR or MR is just to bright.

Thanks guys. About the plasi-dip thing, how hard is it to do and do I have to remover the tires from the rim or the rim from the car. Also can some post a pic of the plastic dip rims, close up if it's not too much trouble.

Never used it, but I understand it is like spraying regular paint. You don't have to remove the tires, just mask them off, or you can even let the paint get on the tires as it will peel off. If you don't mask them before you start to peel, get a razor knife and scribe around the tire/wheel joint so when you peel it off the tires it does not put the paint on the wheels. Also Google them, they have videos on the use and different types of products.

I put index cards between the rim and tire to protect tire but it will just peel off also.
Dip your car . Com all one word. They have lots of videos and a forum on it.

Much easier with wheels off car. Tires can stay on rims. You also want wheels off car so you can do the barrels, otherwise it looks funny. Send me an email address and I will send u pics. I have quite a few. Easy to do, just takes some time as u have to wait 20-30 min between coats. Takes about 5 coats. Prep is huge as wheels need to be 100% clean or else it will peel off. I prepped very good and had absolutely no issues for 8 months ( I took it off just to change up the look again). I was very happy with the look and will probably do it again. It's like having 2 sets of rims without the hassle or expense of swapping tires or storing a second set.
