Default 16 y.o. granddaughter drives C6

I let my 16 year old granddaughter drive my C6 with manual trans today. Her first time driving a Corvette, her first time driving a convertible, and her first time driving a manual trans car. She stalled it a few times but got the hang of it and did pretty good. She was elated.

My 15 1/2 granddaughter got her permit last week. I haven't talked to her yet but I plan on letting her drive mine. With me in it of course.

My youngest daughter was drag racing w/manual at 17 (not a Corvette). They can handle it. The first car she put down was a C5.

That's awesome!

BTW, IMO, the C6 is one of the easiest cars to learn stick on. The clutch is predictable and doesn't stall easily!

LOL.

I think most of us younger guys agree that 16 year olds are off limits.

When she's 18, not so much.

Good for you (and her). Cherished memories for the both of you. My daughter was just a little older (18 I think) when I taught her to drive stick on my 1st corvette. On my 2nd vette she was in her early 20's, the 2nd set of keys was 'hers,' so she could take the car anytime she wanted. To this day, she still asks 1st before she takes it. I can't wait for my grandson to get old enough to drive (he's only 3).

Very cool, those memories will last a lifetime. My son is 16 with a full license. He is a good driver, I allowed him to drive the vette with me. He is looking forward to the next time. How may 16 YO's can say they drove a vette??? How cool is that?

You can bet that every boy in her class knows you gave her a driving lesson in a Corvette.
