Don't take this the wrong way

The car is plenty fast for me.I went thru my mod phase 8 or 9 years ago and before.Spent 12 grand supercharging a 95 C4 early last decade.Loved it.Loved that car!!Nowadays,I'm over it.Maybe headers or something small like that. Hell,I can't use the 436 HP I have now!I've come to the conclusion to learn how to drive the car to it's full potential and therefore using all it's got!

I am 62 years old and in my life have owned quite a few muscle cars and some hot imports. As a younger man I was always modding. I have spent thousands of dollars putting stuff on already quick cars trying to realize some perceptible gains in 0-60 or qtr mile times. I always lost money on those cars when I sold them, voided warranties etc. Looking back I probably would be a lot better off now had I invested that money and just drove the cars. My 2011 GS is fast enough for me. My 2007 Roush Stage 3 BlackJack will take it in the qtr but the vette would leave it behind at the high end, more evenly matched on a road course. I am content to leave it as is and enjoy the reliability, relative economy for a 436hp car and have it all under warranty. To each his own and that is my .02

I wasn't over 55 when I bought my 2005 but I agree, the stock C6 is fast right out of the box. I kept my new C6 stock for about a year before I had a different, more powerful engine installed....I wanted a little more.

You get use to the speed and the car seems to get slower the longer you have it. Yes, I would like to have more speed.
However, my problem right now is that I am getting limited traction because of the cooler weather and the original tires that are starting to wear. I get a thrill ride every time I start to get a little aggressive with the car and more power is not going to help.
I am 68.

My neighbor came over and asked me if I could take his teenage son for a ride because he was really excited about my car. I told him sure come on over. So the next day I take his son out for a ride and get on it hard a couple of times and WOW! Not only was he impressed but so was I . I had been riding around casually and not really calling on it for a couple of weeks so when I really got on it even I was impressed. That thing took off like a rocket. If you don't use it to the full potential occasionally you forget how hard this thing will accelerate. Compared to most cars the Corvette is a real rocket ship right off the showroom floor.

Over 55 and no, my 06 vert is not slow. I also have a 79 six cylinder CBX and a Hayabusa so I know a little bit about slow...other people are slow.

62 here and as far as I'm concerned, my stock '06 coupe is fast enough for me with my occasional freeway entrance acceleration exercises, rice-cooking procedures, and passing drills on two-lane roads.
The quickness of acceleration from 40 or so mph to 100+ is simply astounding. I'm still amazed by how the the Corvette is at once a certified race car and at the same time cruises city streets like a boulevard cruiser.
What a car. Best one I've ever had.

This is pretty much true, but having a lot of HP is kind of like having a 10 inch member, you sure don't need that much for normal use, but its sure nice to know the extra is there if you do.

Melting Slicks
18 years ago (when I was 36, now 54) in 1996 I thought new my Trans Am, WS.6 was fast, 320 HP and looks to kill. Now a V6 base Camaro is just as fast and has 323 HP (and gets 30 MPG).
So, fast is a sliding scale that changes in time, and as each day passes, my C6 gets slower.

I'm on the other side of 55 and have to agree with you.
