Default Bad luck strikes again

2013 started with a total rebuild of my C6 LS3, then the 496 BBC on my airboat dropped its oil pump pick up tube and required a complete rebuilt. At this point I figure all the drama is over but NO I end up switching jobs and on the first day of the new job I get hit in the drivers door of my C6 on the way home. At this point I am ready to sacrifice live chickens to break the curse because the wreck caused me all kinds of injuries and a big wad of cash to fix my car. So I figure 2013 is just a sux year and pray for 2014. *Well two weekends ago on the way to the coast to catch some trout my Duramax diesel drops a piston. Oh yes that is three engines in 12 months. I was about to get mad when I saw the white smoke rolling behind me for a 1/4 mile but I just smiled. That wreck almost killed me and I refuse to let the small stuff bring me down. We drove the last 20 miles to the camp and Sunday I drove the 250 miles home on 7 cylinders, it took 5 gallons of oil to make it though. So now guess what I get to do next weekend?????? I get to install this in my truck!!! *Don't tell me that this does not look like it is going to be a great time. I can't believed I complained about pulling the engine out of the top of my C6. This right here is going to be FUN. *So if you know any good witch doctors could you please ask him to remove my curse?

Here is the new engine.*

Swapped out a 6.0 in our son's Ford PSD a few years ago. Absolutely NOTHING fun about it. Hope your luck improves.

Any idea why the diesel dropped a piston?

Not sure why it started blowing white smoke and puking oil. It either blew a hole in a piston or broke a ring. I thought about rebuilding it but what if it failed because of an injector? Now you are talking 2k for a set of injectors on top of 4500 to rebuild the long block. 6500 for a engine and Trans with 35k miles on them sounded like a better deal, I can also sell my old Trans and engine.

Not everything was bad last year, I adopted a kid two months ago? She is 15 and needed help or she was going to be lost. so now I have four kids, three girls and a boy. With any luck one of them will hit the lottery and take care of me when I get old.

Sorry about the bad luck. Good on you for the adoption. Good carma right there.

2 summers ago I did an engine swap on my sons Audi A4 1.8 Quatro. What a PITA that was. Good ol German engineering.

Hopefully you don't have any more vehicles with engines! Time to turn the page and move on from these Chapters. Hope it's clear sailing from here on out! Good luck!
