Theft from car, no signs of entry though
I came out this morning to find my sunglasses and spare change missing from my car. My change tray was open and a nickel was on the seat. There is NO sign of damage or anything on the car.
I don't even give a damn about the missing stuff, the glasses were old as hell anyway... but what worries me is how they got in. Do they have master fobs that thieves use to open the cars easily?
Also, my iPod was still attached. I guess they didn't check the glove box. Idiots.

Are you certain you have your door locks programmed correctly and that they are working correctly? It seems strange somone would break in for change and sunglasses.

Silly question, but are you sure you actually locked your door?
The reason I ask is because on my 2005 I had passive lock…car locks itself when I walk away.
On my 2013 I was leaving thinking the same until I realized passive lock was not on by default and I was basically leaving my car unlocked the entire time.

Yeah I popped it remotely this morning when I was leaving to put my bag in the trunk. Got in the car, noticed a few coins on the seat and floor, then noticed the change tray was open. Sunglasses were gone, but work badge was untouched. iPod also untouched in glove box.
Looked around the car and didn't see any signs of entry.

This is exactly why I don't keep anything valuable in my car. Those sunglasses were old as hell anyway. The iPod was the only thing worth taking.
Like I said, the part that worries me is how they got in so easily. The HOA still haven't gotten around to checking the surveillance tapes.

regardless of what method you used, active or passive, your car was unlocked. thieves got in, took stuff. sometimes, they even leave by locking the doors.

As others have mentioned, make sure the last fob you used to close the door (not the hatch) has the auto-locking programmed. Just because one fob was programmed for it, the other one might not be.

Sorry to say it is over now. It could have been worse. Sorry. Be extra careful now and recheck each time you lock it. I've already thought that I locked mine only to have my friend tell me he tried my door for "sh--s and giggles" after I left the car and he found the door open. Now I check and recheck every time I leave the car. Good luck!!

If you setup the option for passive lock/unlock, it can still be overridden by pushing a button. You can disable the manual (and accidental) button pushes by slipping a piece of cellophane over the internal contacts.
