What would DESTROY this GS seat?!
Could really use some insight! I found the vette I've been looking for; 2012 GS, one owner, just under 22k miles, 3LT, perfect add-on options. The car looks very clean in all the pics sent EXCEPT the driver bolster. Dealer says the leather isn't broken through and they will dye it correctly. I appreciate their transparency, but what the h###!
Anyone experience this? Is this a bad conditioner, solvent, melting, sweat issue? Any recommended fixes? Try to get a new(er) seat down the road if I can strike a deal? Thank you!

Try these guys, they are forum vendors and I have purchased used items from them. I've seen a number of seats on their site under C6 parts.
Dont know if any I saw any 3LT seats. I also have these seats, I believe they are the sport seats? Contain an air bag, etc.

Is that the passenger seat? If so, it looks like they jammed something in there, like a tube type TV, or something like that and scraped the edge of the seat.
Or, there was a lunch time quickie with the secretary and . . . . well, you probably know the rest

It's how one gets out of the seat. If you turn and slide out of the seat, your clothing will rub against the bolster and wear it eventually. Mine did that, but not as bad. I used leather fix kit, and can't tell it was ever worn. I try to be more careful getting out of the seat.
You can just buy the top part of the seat skin if you want to buy new. Any forum vendor (Cultrag) that sells GM parts can get one for you.
You can also check the FS section.

I have heard that the leather used in corvette seats is not of the highest quality.

It’s caused by someone too lazy, feeble, or fat to get into or out of the car properly. Probably while wearing a Tommy Bahama shirt.

I had wear in similar spot. When researching, came upon post that said there is some part of the seat frame (heavy wire or thin bar) that rubs from the inside. Solution was to unzip the back and stuff a small piece of flexible plastic in the between the metal piece and the leather. Stopped mine from additional wear.

Just to add another tidbit on the bolster wear area. There is a very hard piece of seat frame that rubs against the leather, so any abrasion from the seat side will start to wear because there is no give. When upholstery shops change out the upper seat skin, they add a piece of felt betwen the seat frame and the seat skin, to prevent premature wear.
A you tube video from Leatherseats.com shows this and explains why they do it.

I second the gun grip/magazine rubbing. All our patrol vehicles have a similar wear pattern.
