What Corvette Inspired you to own?

I've liked Corvettes since seeing a '58 in the early '60s. What really inspired me to get one however was the C6. It's just what I was looking for in a Corvette. A great balance of looks, performance and technology. The price was right too.

The C2's did it for me as a teenager…. I loved them all…. especially the 63 split window, and the 67's.
First Vette I bought wasn't till 1975. I was 22 then and after looking for a 67 Coupe for about 6 months, I bought this '65 Roadster. All numbers matched, excellent condition. Even the AC worked. It was my daily driver then. Would love to have this one back.

What got me hooked on Corvettes was the fact that my Dad let me drive his brand new 1966 427/390hp Air Conditioned Coupe on special dates. The photo shows Dad's Sting Ray.
When Dad passed away in 2008, I looked for a Sting Ray that would help me remember my Dad. That search soon culminated in me buying a '65 A/C Coupe that, four years later, earned a 2012 NCRS National Top Flight Award.
My love for my '65 Sting Ray caused me to buy a brand new '10 Grand Sport Coupe which I love to drive. I give my Dad all the credit for getting me away from Buicks and Cadillacs and into Corvettes!

This photo shows how radically different the '63-'67 Sting Rays were from the average car in the 60s. What a contrast!
If you did not turn to stare, there was no hope for you in the world of cars.

When I was in college I worked at the local energy company and one of the dudes there had a 96 yellow C4. I wanted one soooo bad. I graduated college and bought a yellow C5, now I own a C6(wish it was millennium yellow).

Always liked c-1s and c-2s, interest started to decrease with c-3s and c-4s. C-5s got me interested again but it was the c-6 (beauty, performance and quality) that I decided I couldn't live without one. Have had my c-6 going on 3 yrs, and still get butterflies just looking at it and driving it! In my opinion, the c-6 was the start of the 'supercar' Vette.

The first time I saw a blonde drive away in a 1969 4 speed Convt. I was about 16 and working in a grocery store. Don't know which I admired more.............

A 1953 in a newspaper ad, and a 1954 in person when my Dad went to look at one. I was 11 when I went with him to look. He kind of scoffed at it and did not buy, but I was "in love".
In 1967, I finally bought my dream car, a new Sunflower Yellow roadster.

I saw a 1959 Red Corvette with the top down in my home town in the fall of 1958. I was 13 and hooked for life.

When I was 14 I worked for my dad at his full service gas station. He had a regular customer that drove a 1972 white Vette. He owned a bar/restaurant down the street. When I was 16 I got to go pick up his car to bring it back for service. When I went in to get the key I asked him if he was working hard. He replied hell no it ain't hard to drink liquor and chase women! On the way back to the shop I kept my foot in the 4barrel and heard the exhaust screaming! I knew then I had to have one!

In '68, a little bit older friend of mine had a '61 Vette with a '67 327/350hp motor in it. I loved riding around in that car. In '67, my older sister's BF, bought a new '67 vert with a 327/300hp motor. In '69, I had another friend that had a '60, that he put in a much newer 327, with a solid lifter cam, high compression pistons, fuelie heads, headers and so forth. Those 3 Vettes inspired me.
Later in '69, I had earned enough money from my jobs to buy a used plain jane, radio delete, silver with black interior '64 Vette. I put a motor in it, it had the M21 tranny and a 4.11 posi.

I was 12 years old, sitting in a café in Auburn, Indiana when a new tan split window pulled up in front. That thing took my breath away. Route 66 may have been cool, but that coupe was just absolutely beautiful.
A few years later, I went to work in a Chevy dealer in New Haven, Indiana, where they catered to the hot car crowd. I did the new car prep and clean-up. Got to drive plenty of Corvettes, early Z28's, and those fantastic big-blocks. That experience just sealed the deal. This Corvette is just the most recent in a long line of muscle cars, E-type jags, Mercedes, Cadillacs, etc.

Based on a recent post about a member letting a younger fan sit in and start his corvette... it brings to mind what Corvette inspired me to always want a Corvette. I was 17 yoa and working a summertime job trimming Christmas Trees in the Adirondacks and the son of the rancher where I was working drove up in a Gen 2 Stingray fastback and I was done... and have since owned several hi performance cars including Mustangs, Jaguar, and Corvettes. My Grand Sport C6 is by far the one I have liked the most. Although I like the style of the older Corvettes I found I like the overall performance and convenience of the newer Corvettes. As I always say when someone over the years comes up with a one off top performer that exceeds the Corvette performance... "But my Corvette has a past, a present, and a future." What Generation or model inspired you to own?
