Default Wheel choices that are not so Expensive?

I know this forum will flame me for asking this, but I have to.

It seams like everyone here either has 5k HRE/CCW type wheels, or 1k set of repos.

Is there nothing in between?

Fully understand your question and share your feelings. I'm happy with my chrome GS wheels but would suggest that you take your time and explore the used market. I may be wrong but suspect that, like myself, you just can't justify $5k for wheels. Good luck in your search and I don't think you will be flamed. Many of us are in the same situation.

I will not spend 5 k on wheels. i would rather that money in a blower, or another car.

its not that i cant.... its that i wont.

Looked at TSW but nothing i really like, the nurgurges are ok basicly a non concave 360 mesh wheel.

While price isn't always indicative of quality, most often you get what you pay for. Having several sets I'm a fan of CCW wheels. CCW makes a wide variety of quality, made in the USA wheels at a 'reasonable' price. They're not cheap wheels but they're not HRE expensive either. CCW provides first-rate service and when you deal with CCW you're not talking with some middleman vendor....you're talking to the manufacturer. They know their products, they know Corvettes and they're fitment experts. Despite the stresses of hard track use I've never had any problems with CCW wheels. There are other decent wheels at different price points but IMO you won't find any better than CCW. Good luck whatever you decide on.

I thought the same for awhile but gave in and went with CCW's. Not only does it take the car to another level but they just look much better. Although, there are a number of high end wheels that I don't care for, high price doesn't mean they look great. Forgeline and CCW's are my personal favorites.

CCW's are not $5k. They are around $3k depending on size and finish, without tires and sensors.

I suggest theat you check out some of the forum vendors. They have a wide selection of wheels. As stated before, you get what you pay for. With that said, I purchased a set of after market Z6 Z06 style wheels in chrome for my C5 and I now have a set of the same style wheel on my C6 except they are black chrome. prices was a right at $1,000.00 for all 4.

I vote for Vossen 87's. Stock offers are nice, add in a personal touch of power coating to choice, Bam! Just my opinion.

GM made a variety of stock wheels over the years, for your car. And any painted wheel can be re-painted a different color, or chromed.

As a reference point, I was able to buy two different sets of like-new factory painted wheels (2009 split spokes) for our base coupe, off Craigslist for $300/set. Even with Z06 wheels being more expensive, and repainting, you could have a nice distinctive set of excellent quality wheels for a thou.

Forgestar wheels are a great compromise compared to the more expensive brands.

Default ZR-1 wheels

I've got a set of ZR-1 black wheels on my red GS. They look really good and are available on the internet for less than $500 each.

Yeah man, I've been going through the EXACT same dilemma. After much looking, I finally found the wheels that I am gonna order. They are at West Coast Corvette. The set costs $1400, and for another $250 you can get the barrels polished, which really makes these wheels pop IMHO.

Here's a pic:

LGM. I've seen originals that are worked on by paint, powder coat, black chrome, chrome that come out btw. $1K and $3.5K. Or, think and search hard for used but great condition HRE, CCW, Finspeed, Forgeline, etc. wheels. They're out there; you just haven't found them.

TSW are your best choice hands down, they are really the only/best option for those who think $1000 dollars per wheel is absolutely ridiculous. I even had the money and couldn't bring myself to do it, that's a whole body kit for goodness sake. Not only were the TSWs very reasonable they were 2 lbs lighter a piece then my stock forged wheels.
