Do I have a HB issue?
The last couple mornings that I've driven the Vette into work, I've noticed some weird chirping noises. The sound is tough to describe and it's not real loud, but honestly, it sounds just like a movie sound effect for an alien ray gun, kind of a pulsating, swirly noise. It's not a squeal or sound I've ever heard a car make before, but I'm far from an expert on matters such as this. The noise seems to come and go, it's not constant, but regardless of how long I've been driving, every now and then it will make that noise.
I haven't had time to open up the hood and take a look at it, I'll do that when I get home tonight, but I'm worried about it because I'm planning on taking a trip this weekend that will be close to 1,000 miles round trip. If it is the HB, and this is the first signs of it going bad, is it safe to drive it on this trip?
How long will it last before it needs to be replaced? Is it something that can cause a lot of damage if it breaks while I'm driving it? The car ('13 GS) only has 12K miles on it, but I've read where HB have gone out way earlier than that.
Thanks for any help/advice.

How long it will last depends on how bad it's wobbling - if at all. It could be something else like the tensioner pulley, alternator, water pump or just a bad belt. You gotta take a look and see what it is first.

Also check the AC belt. Mine's been chirping just like you describe for about 8 months. It comes and goes. I know it's the AC belt on mine because I drove without it and no noise. Put the belt back on and noise came back.
