Default Front Bumper Painted in Indiana

I go to a shop in Indiana, North of Indianapolis. I want to get the front bumper painted and it needs a little work because its been scraped on the bottom. I tell the guy, I'll take the bumper off, remove the grill, and the fog lights. His estimate $784. Seems more than a little high.

It does seem very high. Another good reason to consider clear protection for the complete front of a car from the start....cost about that or a litle more.

It does sound a little high, although they do have to add an additive to the paint due to the bumper being made of a flexible type of compound. Also I have read where others have done this only to reinstall the bumper and find it does not match the original color.

I had the front fascia on my C5 reprinted not long after I bought the car. Work included repairing a small split in the fascia by the driver's side headlight, R&R of the fascia and a complete repaint. Total cost was right at $500. So if you do some of the work yourself, the price you have been quoted does seem rather high.

I don't know if this is a high figure or not. What I do know is that I am willing to pay a premium for excellent work. Did you select this shop based on great references and recommendations?

Also I agree with the comment about getting a clear bra to protect your front end and other areas.

Paint work cost goes up fast. The extent of the underside damage is unknown without additional information. What I do know is, time and materials to refinish a bumper will cost around $350/$400. Factor in the repair? The price seems to reflect that the shop estimate includes removing and reinstalling bumper. I would want the shop to remove and install repaired bumper, if you mess it up it is your nickel.
