Default Horn sounds on shut down

Every once in a while the horn will blow three times rapidly before the final one time to let me know the car has locked. Why is it blowing those three times? I could not find anything to explain this. Thanks.

It can still detect the Fob and it thinks you're going to leave the Fob in the car after the door is shut. I think.

Mine does that if I leave the Fob in the car when I shut the door. Try getting further away from the car before you hit the lock button on the fob.

You are still close to the car, and it thinks the FOB is in the car...It honks 3 times to warn you. 8 seconds or so later, the door will lock

Thanks for the posting about the 3 honks. I have been trying to disable this annoying "feature." I tried pushing unlock button on the driver's door before exiting and that sometimes help.

I always let the car lock itself. Usually happens in the garage so maybe there is some interference from the garage door opener.

Great question----This happened frequently with my 2008 ZO6 before I traded it in, and it is happening with my 2013 427---while the keys are in my pocket. Not every time, but maybe 15% to 25% of the time, especially in the garage or in front of it. I do have it set so the horns will go off if I inadvertently leave the keys in the car........which has been very helpful 2-3 times, so I don't want to disarm this setting. As another response noted, maybe there is some interference when in or near the garage---maybe the garage door opener?

PS....I also have it set for the doors to automatically lock after x seconds when I close the doors. Basically, I never have to use the fob---it just stays in my pocket except for those rare occasions when I mistakenly leave it in the cup holder (maybe I was fishing for change and took the fob out of my pocket while driving and put it in the holder and forgot about it).

I was having the same problem when I just purchased my 2013 427 vert in April. I posted the question here on the forum. It was suggested I put the fob in my left pocket, not the right pocket. Guess what, problem solved!! Good luck.

FOB Reminder: This option sounds the horn three
times when the driver’s door is closed and there is a
keyless access transmitter inside the interior of the
vehicle. This will only occur when the vehicle is off.
Press the OPTION button until FOB REMINDER appears
on the display, then press the RESET button to scroll
through the following modes:
• YES
• NO (default)
If you choose YES, the horn will sound three times
when a keyless access transmitter is inside of the
vehicle while the ignition is turned off and the driver’s
door is closed.
If you choose NO, this option will turn off.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.

Our problem is that we want the car programmed so the horn goes off when the fob is left inside, but in our experience the horn has been going off when the door is closed AND the fob is outside the car and in our pocket.

Make sure it is your LEFT pocket. Worked for me!

Mine (m6) does it if I don't put it in reverse before I shut the ignition off.

As crazy at that sounds, I think I noticed that too.......so I try to remember to put it in reverse and put on the emergency brake before I turn the motor off......and now because of the input above, I am going to carry the fob in my left pocket. Just crazy isn't it? Hi tech---we can't live with it, and we can't live without it.

Parking the m6 in reverse is in your owners manual.

I have been carrying keys in my right pocket for as long as I can remember. I will try it but it going to be hard to change an old habit
