What is your favorite radar detector?
Im looking to buy my first radar detector. I was curious as to what all of your favorite ones are and why.
I want one that works best to alert me.
Thanks guys and gals.

My Valentine One has saved me thousands over the years in my cars and motorcycles. It's front and rear long distance detection capabilities can't be beat. It's $400+ cost is well worth it as it essentially pays for itself in saves.

Using their suction mount I mount it in front of the mirror, down just enough that I can see the arrows and it's rear antennae can 'see' out my vert's smallish rear window. I plug it into the lighter socket usually or sometimes into the socket in the console. It can also be connected right into your mirror with a short wire. Someone here offers one.

Safety Car
Escort 9500ix. Had it since 2008, still works very good. Rarely get false alarms, because Escort updates it weekly with red light cameras, speed traps, etc.
I have a power cord (attaches behind the mirror), and a visor bolt mounting bracket I got out here too, so it is up high and out of the way.
This was the 1st "must have" for my vette, and I've never regretted the purchase.
I borrowed a friend's Valentine 1, and it was just as sensitive, but the false alarms drove me crazy, which is why I stayed with the Escort. It "learns", and it does a good job learning false alarms.

Been using a V1 for 12+ years now. No tickets. Keep in mind a radar detector is a tool and if not used/deployed properly even the best one made won't protect you.

I have a Escort 9500ix, but most all of the detectors are useless against instant on laser. Unfortunately, that's what it seems like most of the LEO's around here use. I dont even bother using one anymore and just set the cruise 5 mph over the limit and forget about it.

Beltronics line of detectors is super, better priced than the 2 most mentioned Valentine/Escort, same technology, mounted with the blendmount bracket it works super. Has saved me several times, very good investment.

Have been using the same escort 8500 X50 since 2007, Love it.
Dream of the V1 with the HUD kit.
But I really want a Escort Redline. Best detector on the market bar none.
