Dennis is definitely THE MAN!!! Huge savings! Very quick response and went the extra mile to help me with my warranty. I highly recommend calling Dennis Fichtner for any extended warranty issues. My local dealer was almost double the price.

When my drivetrain expires at the 5 year point, can I get an extended warranty for just the drivetrain?

I will answer but have been a little busy so here goes:

You can not buy a GMPP or any other extended warranty plan unless you are under the factory 36/36- the 5/100 powertrain means nothing as far as purchasing an extended warranty.

Thanks Ed for the kind words, it was my pleasure to help you out!!

I now carry the Mastertech plan for all my great customers in California and Florida that can no longer buy a GMPP from me and their rule is you must have 1 month and 1,000 miles left of your ORIGINAL factory 36/36 in place.

Hope this helps, I get thousands of calls a month from customers wanting a GMPP since their 5/100 is almost up and you can not get one.

Some states have changed their rules and consider the extended warranty to be an insurance policy and therefore people and companies involved in the sale to be licensed just as if they were selling casualty insurance. Dennis would have to take tests and licensing requirements in all of those states.

It is now one of 10 states that GMPP is not to be sold in unless you are a dealer in California. They made it an insurance product so you must be a licensed insurance agent and most dealership F & I people are licensed to be able to sell Credit Life, Disability, GAP, etc. It really sucks since California was my second leading sales state, right behind Florida which they also took away.
That is why I now have Mastertech plans since I can sell them in all 50 states.

We have bought 2 GMPP's from Dennis......the first one just before our first year of ownership was up on a new 2008 C6 (60 month/40K miles/Zero deductible) and the extension of that original GMPP for another 36 months/24K miles/$50 deductible.

Best price, best service, best dealer. best rep.

Almost forgot...... bought a GMPP on our 2001 C5 back in 2004 as well from Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Montana. Our good friend who bought that C5 in late 2004 used it on a number of warranty issues, so it really paid for itself.

Default Too old

Dennis says my 2006 is too old for a GMPP. What's second best out there?

When I bought my '11 this year, the dealer offered a bumper-to-bumper warranty until 2019 (but not the GM warranty) with a $100 deductible for $2,100. I argued him down to $1,000 and took it. It has the same coverage as the one from GM, I hope they stay in business that long..... I think I will need it: with just 7,000 miles now, both rear NPP shocks are bad, one of the front ones is on its way out, and a CV joint needs replacing. But I love this car!

I bought a Vehicle One warranty from Dennis a couple of years ago. This far, it has paid for an AC head unit and all new AC actuators, harmonic balancer, new Nav unit, wiring harnesses and modules under the seats, seat heater elements, telescoping steering wheel actuator. It's paid for itself 4 times over. I guess sometimes you bet against the house and win.

All insurance and warranties are a rip off. Of course for somethings like a house or health it's pretty much necessary. I buy cars so I don't have to insure them with anything other than liability. The equation for the cost of insurance, or in this case a warranty is simple: the statitical cost of the the repairs over that time period + the OH cost of the companies involved+ the sales commissions+profit. Take the money and invest it. Some come out better, but some win lotteries.

Robert - "The Mechanic" appears to be the brand name, with "Automotive Warranty Services" as the insurance administrator at 175 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago. Correction on the price: $1660 for 72 months or 60,000 miles from the date of purchase (some of this time overlaps the factory warranty). PM me for more details. Jim.
