Can someone recommend a good air compressor to keep in the car?
Hi all,
I would like to but a good air compressor to keep in the car so I don't get stranded. Even though I have run flats, if I get a nail, I could fill it up with air and not worry until I get home. As you know, when it is flat, your speed is limited to 55 MPH.
I want one small enough to fit in one of the rear cargo cubbies and fast enough so it does not take 1/2 hour to fill from 10 lbs. of air left in the tire....
Thanks for your help...

Got his off of Amazon. Very small and fits in the cubby with ease. Powerful and runs off the car.

Small, compact, works like a charm. A little pricey but for the size and space its just tip money for a Corvette owner.

I have this one:
Harbor Freight
As a test, I let all the air out of one of the front tires. This thing refilled it to 30 psi in 1 minute 40 seconds. I thought that was pretty good.
According to the specs, it won't fit in a cubby but those dimensions are for the shipping box. It fits with plenty of room to spare.

Burning Brakes
The one I use for my bike tires--also from Harbor Freight. I've had this for a couple of years and carry it on the bike when I go dual sporting to air up the tires after doing some off-road stuff. Fast for it's size. Only watch out is that the air chuck gets quite hot after using it for inflation--wear gloves to remove it from the stem!!! And at under $22, you can't beat the price even if you never need it.

Melting Slicks
I bought mine at Napa ? MANY years ago and have used it a few times. once on the vette. I pumps a 39" tire on my truck in 15 minutes a car should take 5. I think I paid $30

What a cute (albeit expensive) little pump! It would be much easier to store than other pumps. I just wonder how it works since it looks so unconventional for a small air compressor/pump? While it states it can handle high pressure for bike tires, can we be sure it can handle the air volume of an auto tire before burning up.
Read on down in the ad and you will see them airing up hummer tires or some sort of Army vehicle. It is a very efficient pump. Has little fold out legs so you don't have to sit it down in the dirt and have it suck up dirt and ruin the pump.
Like the man said we spend $50/100K for the car and then go to Harbor Freight for a ghetto air compressor. If it said Corvette Pump it would probably sell for $250 and it would have the snob appeal we all need.
Or just carry the cell phone and call AAA.

Hmmm, I don't get this statement. Are you saying that you would never use a HF tool because it's "ghetto"? Pretty sure that just about any small compressor is gonna be manufactured in China/Taiwan/Korea these days..long way from the ghetto. Try to find one that's made in the good ol' USA. I've owned and used this particular model for at least 2-3 years and not been disappointed once. It's inexpensive (yeah, cheap!), reliable, compact, powerful, fast, and dare I say it, a bargain even for Vette owners.
