I usually close the handle but have missed it on occasion. No damage that I can see. I also "catch" the top as it is coming down and make sure the latch handle is open before letting it land on the windshield frame.

YES, but why wouldn't you!!!!! This rates as the dumbest question of the week kinda right up there with do you close your hood beyond the safety latch before you drive off.

If it's leaving a mark and GM provided a recessed area to secure the handle....duh.

During NCM delivery on our 2008 I was advised to put the latch handle in the recessed position. I continue to do that on my 2008 and 427 Verts.

There is no adjustment for this except to bend the control arms of the cover and then readjust the trunk lid for correct seams.
Did adjusting the trunk lid and tonneau cover seams give you enough clearance?

Simple answer - Yes! However, it took some trial and error adjusting to get the seam spacing right. There was an initial spacing problem with the trunk lid.
