Gotta have the RF cause that is what stands for Run Flats. That is why I put it in red They have, and have had for years, Pilot Super Sports that are NOT run flats.

And let us know how they perform at the track. They are working GREAT on the C7s. One bone stock 11.6 at 120mph so far

on that run I was stock, except I had the shroud propped open and the air filter removed..

I now have Corsa Exh., Halltech Beehive with stock filter and a mild Diablosport canned tune.

It would be REALLY NICE to have a baseline established with your current setup and GYs. Otherwise how can you convince anyone of the effects of the SS tires? You will have your gut feeling but you know how much that is worth around here...

I have been to the track a couple of times since the mods.. the best has been a 12.13, with several runs in the 12.30's to 12.50's, traction has become a real issue with the original GoodYears...even with the traction control on

Before the Goodyears went away, I could cut high 1.8 to low 1.9 60 foot times. Now I'm lucky to see a 1.99 once in a while...

You have seen my review so I REALLY look forward to yours. While I don't track my car I do give in to "spirited driving" once in a while.

Super Sport ZP's are on. To stormy today to check them out, hope it clears up tomorrow, then to the drags Saturday..

The old Goodyears still have 8/32-9/32 tread with 13k miles..Z51/ GS owners should be so lucky...

Actually I did, but only got 1 pass before a storm popped up. Went an 12.13 @ 117.83.... 60 Ft time was 1.95

I plan on going back this weekend with the stock tune back in the car. I'm very disappointed with the Diblosport Trinity 93 octane tune...

One pass only matched your best ever with the GYs? Sounds good to me. What do you think of the tires overall so far?

The best 60 foot on the G/Y's was a 1.87, so a 1.95 is not up to speed so far. With the stock tune back in now, this weekends test should tell more.

Don't feel a big difference from the G/Y's but they are a little quieter. I have put about 250 miles on the Super Sports so far, most of it has been interstate miles.

With the tune I had hoped to better my best of 12.01, that didn't happen. We'll see what she does with the stock tune back in....

What's your overall impression of the Potenza's with 20k on them. Noise, ride, handling. I'm due on my 11 GS (will be set 3).

Default Michelin Pilot SS RF for C-7s

To maybe help everyone better understand the new C-7 Michelins:

There are two slightly different Pilot SS RFs for C-7s.

Tire Performance Criteria (TPC) 1430 for base Stingrays and TPC 1431 for the Z-51.

The 1430 is rated 93Y front and 99Y rear. It is biased for a better "blend" of dry and wet handling, and tread life.

The 1431 is rated 89Y front and 95Y rear. It is biased for more aggressive dry handling at the expense of some wet handling and tread life.

The 1430 is advertised as a single tread compound tread, while the 1431 is advertised as a dual compound tread rubber.

There are slight design differences to better compliment the base and Z-51 models. Both are cutting edge technology and designed by Michelin to GM specs to compliment the C-7s base and Z-51 suspensions.

Logic would indicate that the performance advantages of these tires might not be fully realized on a vehicle other than the C-7.

Happy Motoring!

They are a better tire for the base C6 than stock Goodyears. That is based upon actual driving impressions. Whether "fully realized" or not I will leave to others to determine

Default Single vs. Dual compound tread in PSS

From the Michelin Tire site:

"Bi-compound delivers excellent dry braking using LeMans-inspired compound on the outer shoulder and the latest generation of wet-oriented elastomers on the inner portion of the tread."

Which is interesting, considering that when you brake hard, at least in a straight line, you tend to increase negative camber in front. This would use more of the inner portion of the tread. Cornering hard would tend to use the outer shoulder of the outside tire most.

Different stokes, for different folks?

Most car parts are a complex compromise of cost, weight, durability, strength, etc. Tires are easily the most compromised, and complex parts of all, I think.
