Camaro
The year was 1976 and I was 16. I bought a 1969 Camaro SS for 1600.00. It was a 4-speed and I didn't even know how to drive a clutch. I had to learn on the drive home.

My friends dad let us use his body shop last weekend before new owner took over. In a marathon 48 hour session we did 2 cars, Mine rolled back out red with black racing stripes and leather buckets from a junked tbird we found out back.Fun senior year of HS with that.

I may have the oldest (haven't read all the replies).
Had a 1954 Chevrolet 210 in-line 6 with a 2-speed Power Glide transmission. I inherited it from my older sister. It was one that when I stopped at a service station, I told them to check the gas and fill it with oil. It was brown on top, tan on the bottom.

1956 Chevy in 1964 for $850. Changed it over from automatic to stick with a Hurst "Mystery" shifter on the floor and bored it out from 265 to 283 cu in. Ran K stock at the drags.

First car was a 55 Chevy 2 door wagon that I worked over before turning 16. Painted it white over red, but the red faded within a couple of years. Kept it for years until selling it mid-college. Bought a 65 Marlin fastback that had been drag raced for $1100 when I was 18 from a airman stationed in Germany who needed to unload the 3 year old car. Traded that for a new SS396 Chevelle in 1968 while in college. Those were the days.....
Back in the 60's we would caravan to high school track and cross country meets. We would load eight guys into this thing with the rear window swung up and motor to the meets.
