28 point inspection ?

28 point inspection ?
My experience with chevy dealers is that they invent problems and overcharge, so I'm taking my 06 automatic to a private mechanic for the scheduled 30k service.
The pamphlet from the dealer list these things to check, but doesn't elaborate on the last item (28 point inspection).
Can anyone give me advice on what to tell him?
Here's the list of items in the dealer suggested service for the vette.
Change oil and filter
Lubricate Chassis components
top off fluid levels
Inspect brakes, belts & hoses
Install engine oil deposit control
Perform cooling system service
Replace in line fuel filter & air filter
Perform automatic transmission fluid exchange
Inspect condition of belts & hoses and heat shields
Inspect under carriage for damage and leaks
Perform battery service
Perform 28 point inspection <-- they don't elaborate on this

The attachments are from the Service Manual that you should read. If you don't have one they are readily available for free on line from GM Parts House. Don't have your independent mechanic do anything else. I would rather trust the dealership to do the job right Vs some of the independents I have seen.
Of course there are some owner checks that are mentioned in the manual and some other comments about when to vary the services based on usage.

thanks, it seems that contradictory to the owner's manual , the dealer has his own suggested service at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90,000.
Just another reason why I won't use the dealer for service.

If you look at the operational guide of the dealership this will be listed under "additional profit center methods to remove money from customers". I think that the "oil change stores" still advise returning in 3,000 miles or 3 months for the next service - and people do, go figure.
