Track Tonight .. Tips?
Hi All,
My friends and I are going to Island dragway tonight.
My best run in my 08 TVS2300 A6 is 12.5 @ 120 which i think is somewhat sad. I do have stock runflat tires though. What advice can you guys give me as to doing this.
Should I be in D, S, S with paddle shift?
TC on?
Competitive Driving Mode on?
What should I leave the line at?
my 2.2-2.3 60'' are KILLING ME!
any help is appreciated! I want that 11.9

My last visit to the track i ran a consistent 12.3 with just intake and tune. You should definitely be running better numbers.
Few tips i was given -
Turn off ac
Drive around the water box- your street tires will just get water in the tread.
go on the last yellow light
Try going from idle and flooring it
if your time doesn't go down try to feather the pedal a bit to take out wheel spin
Also try holding the brake and giving it like some gas (1500-2000 rpms) and just drop it on the light. *Everyone usually suggests this but i end up spinning*

The low end torque from the roots blower is killing your time; be light on the throttle until you know it will hook. Try leaving from idle even.

Burning Brakes
When I ran pure stock it made a difference to pump the rear tires up. I could dump the tri-power much sooner and walk out a car length on the comp. with the same combo. I used 40+ lbs to keep the middle of these big tires planted. You still need to eas'it out with all that torque from idle.

S w/o paddles, TC off, 24-26 psi in tires, no water box, chirp tires to clean w/o a full burnout, brake to 1000-1200rpm and roll (not stab) into the throttle.
Forget about reaction time and concentrate on a smooth steady increase in power. If you spin, you're increasing the rate too quickly.
The 12.5 is sad. A lot of bone stock '08's have done better. Since traction is your biggest problem, DR's should be the next mod.

You wont hook with those tires........you will be lucky to break 12s and that will be with a soft launch. Those telling you to hammer on it dont realize how much power you make down low. Your time is slow but your trap speed says 11s no problem. DO NOT try to come out at 2k. Your car will break loose before that anyway.
Big difference trying to come out of the hole with 200 rwtq at 1800 vs having 400 rwtq.

Ease off on the throttle when launching. Let the car get some momentum before hitting the floor. I have an LS2 with the TVS 2300 and ran 11.40's @121 MPH with a 1.75 60' on Hankook street tires. Run flats are the worst. Gained 3 tenths going from RF's to Hankooks.
Most tracks do not prep really well for street car nights. I tried a set of ET streets one evening and found myself sideways. My best on a "street car" night is only 11.60. Just takes practice. I've seen new ZR1's slip sliding and only getting high 11's. Try to go on a test and tune day when the big boys are running and the track is prepped. A sticky track makes a huge difference.

While better than your previous best, it's still a long way short of the capability.
What launch procedure did you use? How many passes did you get? Can you post the 3 best timeslips or at least all the numbers?
Angelo C6 is spot on about the track prep.
