Default My Wife Drove My Vette for the 1st Time Today

When we first got a Corvette a couple of years ago, and for quite a while afterwards, my wife said she didn't want to drive it, she was afraid it was too much car for her, didn't want to damage it, etc. Recently, she'd started talking about maybe driving it. Today, she finally took the plunge....

Before she got in the car, she admonished me, saying, in a resolute voice filled with moral certitude, "I'm not going to drive it the way you do, fast." I looked at her over my glasses with my best, patient, "Ben Franklin" look. She looked back at me, saying, "What's that look mean?" I just said, "Whatever you say, it's your choice."

She drove (with me riding along) for about 40 minutes, including freeway driving. After a little getting used to it, she punched it, then she punched it again, then again. After about 30 minutes, she found an open stretch and punched it harder.

"Woo hoo!", she exclaimed.

"What'd you get it up to?" I asked.

"Ninety seven," she said, with a big grin. "I was going for a hundred."

'Nuff said. Now she understands.

Now, you have an excuse to purchase another Corvette for yourself. Maybe a Stingray

Only had mine a couple of months; so far the wife is not interested, even though I have asked her to drive it a lot of times we take it out.

My wife has driven my GS many times in the past, but lately, she would rather just drive her SUV.

She likes the Vette, but claims she can't judge distance any good when parking because she says the front is too long and she see good around the car ... ok with me.

Great story, I'm glad your wife has seen the light . My wife will never drive mine because it's a manual. She give me a hard time when I punch it... makes her dizzy she says...

My daughter was with me on a ride in the sticks once when I nailed it after a stop sign on the country road. The back end broke loose and got a little squirrelly and she says "really dad...?" I came back with, "you know if you were driving it, you would want to do the same thing".

Good for her. Now you have your driving time cut in half.

My wife drives it at least 1/3 of the time on long road trips, but rarely otherwise. She got her first ever speeding ticket at age 64 in the Vette. Up until then, she talked her way out of tickets.

If my Gf asks to drive again I'll let her, she's driven it once.

Good to hear another lady enjoying the vette. Now I think she needs one off her own.

My wife is a Filipina also and doesn't like cars that are close to the ground and the reasons you mentioned. She finally quit saying her 300C AWD Hemi is a small car.

The first time my wife drove our GS it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and in the 30 mins she drove we passed 4 other Vettes, all who waved to her. She had already hit 80 in third gear, took some backroad turns pretty quickly, and tried to get the ABS to kick in, but the highlight for her was waving back to the other Vettes . . . each at about 30 mph.
