Default Question re non run flat tires

My 2011 Grand Sport has new Michelin PSS tires on it. Obviously they are not run flat tires and I was wondering what other Corvette owners with non run flat tires do as a plan "B" should they get a flat tire away from home. Other than using your cell phone to call for help, is there a special can of "fix a flat" that you carry with you... or what? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Don't have a C6, but my C5 has non-run flats on it. I carry a portable air compressor, a plug kit, a cell phone and have emergency road service on my car insurance. Probably should carry a small jack also but haven't found one for the car yet.

I don't carry anything with me. A lot of those fix a flat liquids can destroy your sensors in the tires from what I've heard. Flats happen but in the long run they really don't happen to often (same person same car) so I really don't worry about it. A lot of members carry plug kits and a compressor like the post states above me. My plan B however is triple A.

An aluminum jack from a late 90's Mercedes E class works great on a C5/6/7. weighs 3 pounds and has collapsed height of 2 3/4".

I'll be getting Michelin PSS for my next tires change. I plan on using On Star and carrying a compressor and plug kit.

Compressor & plug kit here....not sure why you need a jack for that, but probably helps piece of mind.

I run Nitto NT05R tires and don't carry a thing. If I have a flat I'll have one of my son-in-laws grab one of my two spare rear wheel/tire and bring it to me. Not a problem.

Ohhhhh....that means "flatbed" and more than likely ripped off front end. I have to use raceramps to get my car in my low clearance enclosed trailer.

Can't remember where I got the compressor from. Maybe the Zone....Advanced...etc. Its definitely not a quality compressor, like most of those small cheap ones if they last for more than 2-3 fills your doing good. Hopefully that's all it will "Never" be needed for....lOL.

Slime now specifically says on the package that it is safe for TPMS sensors.

But if you have a flat, won't the car be sitting darn near on the ground? How can you get a jack under it? I'm asking seriously. You're possibly going to be pulled off the road in soft dirt or grass.

I have a compressor, but no plug kit. Figure if I have a flat, I'd never be able to find the hole to plug it anyway. Probably should get some Slime, but don't know what the shelf life of it is. I have towing with AAA and State Farm though. And a cell phone. And OnStar in case the cell phone doesn't work.

I carry this kit. Between the compressor, plug kit, and fixa flat, I am hoping one of them works. I have AAA as well.

In the last few years I have had 3 flats but never a serous blow out. Statistically, I think I am done for a few years.

Be careful if you accept the advice of the air compressor / fixaflat/
plug kit crowd. Most of them have never actually plugged a tire on the road. The car is so low most of us coulkd not find the hole at home in the driveway. Regards the AAA or towing - I pity the fool.

Be careful of the pro run flat crowd. They wear tin foil hats on their head worrying about something that may never happen and are glad to spend $500-700 more for a set of tires that don't last as long.

The tires last just as long and perform pretty much the same. Supercar EMTs don't wear out any faster than non run flat Supercar tires. The GYs wear faster because they come with less tread. Have used both and gotten same wear out of both. Currently I have Michelin PS2 ZP tires on my Z and they seem to be doing fine from a wear standpoint. Yes they cost more but I pick up nails all the time. Last year I had two EMTs patched and I have pulled several nails out of my PS2s before they made their way through the tread. All it takes is for roofing companies to put new roofs on a few houses in your area and you get a street full of nails and screws as the truck hauls the old materials away.
