Warranty Work-Opinions Please
My glove box door latch broke and I'm debating whether to have it repaired under warranty and risk getting my Corvette scratched or dinged up in the shop or just go out of pocket and buy the part and install it myself. I realize that they would repair any damage but then thats just another issue I would need to deal with.
Thanks.

I would take it to the dealer, make sure you do a walk around to be sure and note there is no damage, and make sure they accurately record the mileage.
The latch is easy to replace. Your Choice.

Take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

My life's opinion of all "dealerships service" was akin to the plague (NO Shiiiit) until a while ago. My seat back broke and without boring anyone the service and repair was nothing short of "OUTSTANDING" i.e. new loaner car, overnighting parts, calling in a leather expert from out of state to do the repair, picked car up next day. How's that sound? And I have taken the car back since than for some other work that I could of went else where for. I found a good dealer. PS: I did not even buy the car there.
Having said all of that if the part is cheap enough and you can do it without a lot of effort, I would "just do it" and that way no worries on your part. As they say, "Shiiiit Happens".

PM me with your VIN, mileage, name, address, phone and the name of the dealership; I will set you up a case. I will then call and check in on your Corvette while it is there.
Keep us all posted,

I would let the dealership do it. I think it is good to find a dealership you can trust. Someday may have a major problem with your Corvette and not have confidence that it is going to be fixed right. I scratched two dealerships off my list because they couldn't handle minor repairs properly.

I think you are just at likely to get your car dinged in a parking lot as you would at the dealership.
I would make the decision based on the inconvenience and amount of time I would spend taking it to the dealership and waiting for them to fix it. It doesn't seem like the part would be too expensive and it should be a quick and easy fix.

For a $20 latch, I'd rather buy the part myself and do it. If you do have the dealer fix it and you are **** about your car's paint, request that they not give your car a "courtesy wash". There's no way you want their grungy wash mitts and towels being dragged across your paint.

It takes literally 5 minutes to swap out that latch. Just have them order you a new one and when it comes in you could probably leave your car in the service writers lane and the mechanic can do it there.
Or have them order it and see if they'll let you take it home so you can do it yourself.

I'd take it in and get the work done under warranty. I've had mine a year, and it's been in 4 times for the same problem; they didn't fix the problem, but they didn't scratch my car either (but they did leave it outside during a potential hail storm the last time I took it in, after they'd told me it would stay inside .... )
The car stayed at the dealer for some time before you bought ... they know how to not scratch them.

Also, why did you not take it back to the dealer you purchased it from, assuming that dealer is still local to you.

I trust my dealership (Jon Hall Chevrolet), so I took mine in for the glovebox repair without hesitation. They shuttled me to work, picked me up when it was done, and I gave them a positive thumbs up on their survey.

I ordered/bought the car out of state.
There are GM dealers closer to me than "Miller Brothers" that I have had "Bad Experiences" with, real bad, Example: brought another GM vehicle of mine in for a recall that did not have a thing wrong with it and left with all hell braking loose, took it back after traveling just a few blocks away and had to go round & round with the dealer to fix the various things they had shorted out like the dash lights, etc. No blown fuses.

I have not decided yet how I'm going to fix the latch. Or have it fixed but I do appreciate all the great input. I'll repost when fixed and let you all know how that went.
