So has anybody devised a way to keep the top from bouncing wround in back?
Every C6 I've had including this 3900 mile 5 month old GS seems to have the roof in the back jump around thing going on when I go over bumps, which I try to avoid btw. Anybody found a way to tighten it up back there? Not to mention the plastic end thing cam off at about 1500 mile so I super glued it back in. Thanks and wishing I was at Carlisle!!

Not sure what you're talking about, when I put my top back there it doesn't move at all or make a sound. It's noisier locked in over my head than it is in the back.

You must not be pushing it down to get it seated in the holders.
Locks down tight and doesn't move at all.

Yup, locks in tight after 118,000 miles and nearly seven years.

Is the problem with the top installed or is it while being carried in the hatch? Not 100% clear with OP.

You must be doing something wrong. This my second C6 ('12 & '13 ) and it was always rock solid in the back. Never a peep. After you get the front in you have to push down on the back of the top ( right at the rear wall ) and it snaps in place.

If you have a luggage net back there, make sure the net doesn't get in the way of the rear snaps. Sometimes mine gets in the way and it doesn't snap in right.
If you seat it in right and snap it down, it should stay in one spot.

It sounds as though that you may not be lining up the pins on the rear of the roof with the rear pin holes. The top needs to be snapped down tight. You may be just resting them there. I have had two C6 coupes and they were always very secure and never heard any rattle noises.

First slide the front of the targa top into the 2 pins on either side of the underhatch area (they look like two plastic "fingers" coming up and back on the tops of the wheel wells). These pins slid into the holes on the front edge of your targa top. Now, the rear of the targa top has two metal pins sticking out from either side - align these with the slots on the back of the inside hatch area and push down (with some force). You will feel the pins snap into place.
From there on you are good. Your targa top isn't going anywhere.
To remove, pull up on the rear of the targa top - this will unlatch the rear pins so that you can lift the rear of the top up and slide it back off the pins in front.

I am with everyone on this. Never had an issue 05 my 2005 and don't have an issue on my 2013.
Hell, on my 2013 is it held so tight that I have to really put some force in it to get it to release. I don't see it ever coming loose on its own.

It should fit very snugly when properly stored. One thing to look for is to make sure these plastic pieces didn't fall out of the front side of the top
I just replaced one of mine because it was busted and it kept falling out

Those pieces get lined up with these in your hatch

and the pins on the back of the top get pushed down and locked into these.

I also never experienced any movement of my roof when it is stowed in the trunk. You should hear it click in when stowing. Perhaps you just need to push it down more.

The OP shows to have been a Forum member since 2008... And has evidently had more than one C6. *SURELY* he has discovered that the top snaps into place by now. I have to admit that I didn't discover that right away - but within a short time I did - I don't even remember how I figured out it snapped down into place. It is definitely nosier at times in it's home location than when stored in the hatch.

Mine is so tight that it takes a little effort to "unsnap" it. It is rock solid when stowed. The suggestion above to check the little plastic inserts on the front corners of the roof is a good one. If those fall out or break, the front corners of the roof could move around on the "fingers".

Mine is harder to get out of the back than off the top, at least with one person. Have not tried it with 2 people.

Carried in the hatch...and yes,I've been around here for quite a while and the top is snapped in back there.I guess,to be a little more clear, when I hit a bump it seems to make noise as if it's loose back there. No other time does it make noise.I guess I should avoid bumps a little better than I'm doing now...
Just put on a piece of stick on Velcro on each side.
The Smooth part of Velcro .. not the Hook side.
Worked for me and others ... no more noise
